The prophecy that the future glory of our lives will surpass the past encourages us to reflect on our current circumstances and make necessary changes for a brighter future.

Introduction

In the book of Haggai, we find a prophecy that the glory of the latter house will surpass that of the former. This prophecy encourages us to reflect on our past and make necessary changes for a better future.

Reflecting on the Past

God wants us to look back and recognize areas in our lives where we were doing well or had achieved success. By acknowledging these past accomplishments, we can draw inspiration for our present circumstances and future endeavors.

Areas to consider:

- Our relationship with God: Many of us may have started strong in our faith but have since drifted away. We should examine our current relationship with God and strive to return to a place of closeness with Him.

- Our zeal for God's work: Some of us may have been passionate and dedicated in serving God in the past, but have lost our fervor. We need to rediscover our passion and commitment to His work.

- Our relationships with others: It is important to evaluate how we interact with our family, friends, and fellow believers. If we have become distant or unkind, we should seek to restore love and harmony in these relationships.

- Our personal growth: Many of us may have neglected our spiritual and personal development. We should recommit ourselves to prayer, studying God's Word, attending church, and pursuing growth in all areas of life.

- Our hope for eternity: If we have lost sight of our hope in heaven or the return of Christ, we must reclaim that anticipation and live with an eternal perspective.

Looking Upward

Regardless of our past or present circumstances, we must not be discouraged but look to God for a better now and a glorious future. Trusting in God's faithfulness and power is essential for walking with Him and experiencing His blessings.

Looking upward involves:

- Trusting God for help in all situations: We should rely on God's strength rather than our own abilities or the influence of others.

- Praying and making our requests known to God: Although He knows our needs, God desires us to communicate with Him through prayer and thanksgiving.

- Holding onto God's promises: Even when circumstances seem contrary, we must believe and depend on the promises found in His Word.

- Obeying God's instructions completely: Our love for God is demonstrated through our willingness to obey Him wholeheartedly.

- Cultivating an attitude of praise and thanksgiving: Instead of complaining, we should develop a habit of praising God and expressing gratitude in all situations.

Embracing a Glorious Future

We should not remain stagnant but press forward, forgetting the past and trusting in God's promises for a better future. The Bible contains prophecies and promises that assure us of a glorious end, both in this life and the next.

Promises to embrace:

- The promise of God's presence: Matthew 18:20 assures us that where two or more gather in His name, He is present among them.

- The promise of God's peace: Philippians 4:7 promises a peace that surpasses understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

- The promise of God's power: Matthew 28:18 assures us that all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus.

- The promise of God's provision: Philippians 4:19 guarantees that God will meet all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

- The promise of Christ's return: 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 assures us that Jesus will come again to gather His followers and bring them into eternal glory.

Conclusion

The prophecy of the glory of the latter house encourages us to reflect on our lives, trust in God, and embrace His promises for a better future. Let us learn from the past, look upward to God, and eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of His promises in our lives.
