GOODER? Can I do this better?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

TEXT:

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

WE NEVER KNOW? On 3/7/1992 CARL DAVIS was killed in a car wreck. Carl was a survivor of the Arizona on Dec. 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor attack. He survived a battle and died in a small accident. Carl was Dottie Roberson Lawhon’s dad. He was a hero, came home 50 years later and was driving when he hit a wooden fence and the plank came through the windshield and killed him. We never know?

THERE WAS AN OLD LADY AT THE REST HOME THAT WOULD OFTEN SAY: NOW THAT IS GOODER! THE NURSE WOULD SAY GOODER AIN’T A WORD. THE LADY WOULD SAY: AIN’T AIN’T A WORD EITHER.

COULD WE PRAY GOODER THAN WE ARE?

2/9/1992 I saw a bulletin from Smiths Grove Baptist Church the pastor was TROY RICHARDS. The clip from the bulletin said: Prayer, prayer and more prayer. Prayer is the answer for the healing that is needed in our church. Pay no attention to the ones who are not praying, but pay close attention to how much you are praying.

Let us covenant together with God today to pray three times a day from now to the end of March. Morning, noon and night we will physically go to our knees and pray for healing. God will hear us. He is faithful and just to forgive and bestow upon us His life –giving Spirit. Could you use the Spirit of God in your life? This afternoon after worship, go home and pray.

WE CAN NEVER DO GOODER WITH OUR MOUTHS IN GEAR AND OUR BRAINS IN NEUTRAL. YOUR MOUTH SPEAKS THE LANGUAGE OF WHAT EVER IS IN YOUR HEART… AS GOD’S CHILDREN WE MUST ACKNOWLEDGE OUR TONGUES HAVE A LOT OF POWER.

I honestly need to evaluate the actions and reactions I make. I need to think about the words I say. We can wear all the religious robes to look good on the outside… white washed? Vs. WASHED WHITE.

Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. EVENTUALLY WHAT IS ON YOUR INSIDE WILL TELL ON YOUR OUTSIDE… WHAT YOU HEAR? WHAT YOU WATCH? WHAT YOU READ? ALL THESE FILL YOUR MIND AND YOUR SPIRIT. Your words matter… Your words will reveal. We need to weigh our words in the light of eternity.

Whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.

TO REALLY DO GOODER WE MUST LEARN AND CONTROL OUR EARS AND MOUTHS…

Proverbs 13:3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Remember the Old Hee Haw Show song: “Now, we’re not the ones to go round spreading rumors, Why we’re not just the gossipy kind, No, you’ll never hear one of us repeating gossip. So you’d better be sure and listen close the first time.”

May we cultivate a gentle, kind and pure tongue? YOUR EARS AND TONGUE CAN GROW SWEET FRUIT OR BITTER JAMS?

Proverbs 15:4 (a)A wholesome tongue is a tree of life:

ARE WE DOING GOODER? CAN WE DO GOODER? HAVE YOU EVER WENT BOWLING? Seems like there are GUTTERS on either side of the lane. What is the lesson? WHAT DOES FIRE DO?

Ever think about what fire can do? Water is water! Snow is water! Ice is water! The difference--- the temperature.

What does fire do to butter? What does fire do to a potato? What does fire do to an egg? Fire turns water into vapor? Same fire?

DO WE REALIZE SOMETHING ABOUT SHIPS AND STORMS? STORMS CAN MAKE US GOODER.

It is not how much water the boat is in… It is how much water is in the boat.
