Summary: Born in a stable is the Good News The Gospel of Jesus Christ is good news.

Luke 2:1–14 Good News

1. The Setting of the Good News

• The passage begins with a decree from Caesar Augustus, reminding us that God’s plan unfolds even through earthly powers.

• Mary and Joseph journey to Bethlehem, the city of David, fulfilling prophecy that the Messiah would come from David’s line.

• The Setting of The Good News is in a manger, not a palace — the Savior enters the world. God’s glory is revealed not in human grandeur, but in divine humility.

2. The Announcement of the Good News

• The angel’s announce to the shepherds the Good News “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”

• Shepherds were ordinary, often overlooked people. Yet they are the first to hear the message. The gospel begins with the lowly, reminding us that God’s love is for everyone — not just the powerful or privileged.

• The “good news” it is embodied in a person: Jesus Christ, the Savior.

3. The Meaning of the Good News

• A Savior is born: Humanity’s deepest need is met. Not a political liberator, not merely a teacher, but one who saves us from sin and reconciles us to God.

• Christ the Lord: He is both Messiah (the anointed one) and Lord (divine authority). The baby in the manger is the King of Kings.

• The Good News brings Peace on earth: The angelic chorus declares peace and goodwill. This is not simply the absence of conflict, but the fullness of shalom — wholeness, reconciliation, and flourishing in God’s presence.

4. The Response to the Good News

• The shepherds go “with haste” to see the child. Good news demands a response.

• They return glorifying and praising God, becoming the first evangelists of Christ’s birth.

• Likewise, we are called not only to receive the good news but to share it — in word, in deed, in love. Go tell it on the mountain, Go make disciples, Go

5. The Importance of the Gospel

• The Gospel gives us Salvation and redemption Romans 1:16 declares, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes

• The Gospel Transforms and offers new life 2 Corinthians 5:17 proclaims, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!

• The Gospel offers us Hope and Assurance : "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

• The Gospel is a Reminder God is with us it is the reminder that God has entered our story, and that the good news is for all people — including us tonight.

• The Gospel: He Came, He died, He arose, He ascended, and He will come again ! Christ
