Contributed by Dr.w.samuel Legon on Nov 9, 2021 (message contributor)
Summary: He had work to do while he was on the earth.
God’s seven Gifts to his Son Jesus
John 17: 2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Authority and Power over all.
(1) His position.
Matthew 11: 27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
(2) His work to do
John 17: 4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
His Mission.
John 1: 7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
(3) Men out of the world.
John 17: 6I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
His people.
John 6: 37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
(4) All things what so ever
John 17: 7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
His endowments
John 3: 35The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
(5) Words he gave to them.
John 17: 8For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
His message
John7: 16Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
(6) The glory of redemption.
John 17: 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
His reward
2nd Thess 1: 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
(7) Glory of eternal creatorship
John 17: 24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Is pre-eminence
Colossians 1: 18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
