TEXT: Jer. 29:11, Deut 28:13, 2 Chron 26:5

Jer 29:11 (KJV)11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Deut 28:13 (KJV)

13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

2 Chron 26:5 (KJV)

5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

INTRODUCTION:

There are many people today who find themselves wondering if God is willing for them to be successful or if God has destined them for failure.

I want to affirm to you this day what the Word of God has already affirmed; God wants you to be successful!!

God has raised you up to succeed and not to fail.

If you will align yourself with God’s Will for your life, you will discover that He is on your side!

If you feel that things are moving too slowly in your spiritual life or if you feel that things are going backwards, remember this:

I. Your Relationship With God (Prayer Life-- Worship Habits, Personal Devotion) Will Determine Your Rate Of Success.

[A] A consistent prayer life is a must.

*Battles are won in prayer

*Sin is conquered in prayer

*Discouragement is defeated in prayer

*Self is abased in prayer

*God is exalted in prayer

[B] When God is exalted, He will fulfill His plans for your life.

*He will place within your heart & mind a vision.

*This vision will drive you forward.

It will be your driving force!!

*Even when you fail in some of your efforts, you will get back

On your feet and dust yourself off and continue on.

Psalms 73:1-2 (KJV)

1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

Psalms 73:17 (KJV)

17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

Psalms 73:23-24 (KJV)

23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.

24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Psalms 73:26 (KJV)

26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Psalms 73:28 (KJV)

28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

What is David saying here?:

(1) Yes I have gone through some discouraging times,

(2) Yes, I have seen some times when it looked at first

glance like the enemy was winning.

(3) But I made a trip to God’s Sanctuary (The place of the Word)

and I knelt at God’s altar and He came through for me!!

(4) I have discovered that when I can go no further, He will take

me the rest of the way!

(5) I have found that in the areas where I am weak, He will be my

Strength!

(6) It pays to keep your eyes on Him and concentrate less on the

things going on around you!

(7) Keep your eyes on what God is doing, and not on what your

Enemy is doing!

[C] Retreat is never an option!

Example: Israel left Egypt headed for the Promise Land.

They should have gone immediately from Egypt into

Canaan.

But they got hung up in the wilderness!

There a whole generation of Israelites passed away!

(1) Don’t get tangled up in the wilderness!

(2) Go into God’s Promise Land that He has prepared for you!

II. Satan Doesn’t Want You To Succeed

Page 4 Jan. 26th 2003

[A] He will do everything and anything to hinder you.

(1) He will seek to hinder your spiritual development.

(2) He will seek to prevent your spiritual success.

[B] But once a child of God taste the VICTORY of God, (success)

he will never be the same

(1) He will continually long for victory.

(2) He will hunger for Spiritual success.

(3) He will fight the fight of faith.

(4) Retreat is no longer an option!!

[C] Satan wants you to fail. He wants you to go around;

feeling like a failure

thinking like a failure

acting like a failure

looking like a failure

praying like a failure
