INTRODUCTION:

God’s ways are different from human ways. People often expect the best to come at the beginning, but God, in His divine wisdom, reserves the best for the end. In the wedding at Cana, when the wine ran out, the situation seemed hopeless. However, when Jesus intervened, the water turned into wine, and it was declared better than what was served earlier. This miracle teaches us that God’s best often comes after a season of waiting, testing, or struggle.

Many times, we feel discouraged when things do not happen as we expect. We see others progressing, and it appears as if we are being left behind. However, God is never late. He has a divine plan, and He ensures that the best comes at the right time. The latter glory is always greater than the former.

In this sermon, we will examine how God saves the best for last in five key ways: through delayed but greater blessings, restoration, divine timing, fulfilment of promises, and the ultimate reward in eternity.

1. DELAYED BLESSINGS ARE GREATER BLESSINGS

When God delays, it is not denial—it is because He is preparing something greater.

a) God’s delays are for a purpose (Habakkuk 2:3)

Though it tarries, the vision will surely come to pass.

b) What seems delayed is actually a divine setup (John 11:6-7)

Jesus delayed in coming to Lazarus, but the greater miracle was resurrection.

c) God refines and prepares us during delays (James 1:3-4)

Patience builds character and strengthens our faith.

d) Many great men of God experienced delays (Genesis 37:5-10)

Joseph’s dream was delayed, but when it happened, it was glorious.

e) Biblical Example: Abraham and Sarah’s Son, Isaac (Genesis 21:1-3)

Though delayed, Isaac came as a child of promise, fulfilling God’s word.

2. GOD RESTORES WHAT WAS LOST AND MAKES IT BETTER

When you experience loss, God’s restoration is always greater than what was taken.

a) God is a God of restoration (Joel 2:25)

He restores the years that the locust has eaten.

b) When God restores, He multiplies (Job 42:12)

Job’s latter days were far greater than his beginning.

c) What the enemy stole, God will return in abundance (Zechariah 9:12)

He gives double for every trouble.

d) No loss is permanent with God (Isaiah 61:7)

Instead of shame, there will be a double portion of honour.

e) Biblical Example: Ruth’s Restoration through Boaz (Ruth 4:13-17)

Ruth lost everything but was restored through marriage and a blessed lineage.

3. GOD’S TIMING IS ALWAYS PERFECT

We must trust that God’s best comes at the right time, not when we expect it.

a) God makes all things beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

His timing is never too early or too late.

b) Waiting on God leads to renewed strength (Isaiah 40:31)

Those who wait on Him will mount up with wings like eagles.

c) Human impatience can lead to mistakes (1 Samuel 13:8-14)

Saul’s impatience cost him his kingdom.

d) God’s appointed time brings greater results (Genesis 18:14)

Is anything too hard for the Lord? He will act at the right time.

e) Biblical Example: Hannah’s Child, Samuel (1 Samuel 1:19-20)

Though barren for years, Hannah’s son became one of the greatest prophets in Israel.

4. THE FULFILMENT OF GOD’S PROMISES IS GREATER THAN EXPECTED

When God fulfills His word, it exceeds human expectations.

a) God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19)

Every word of God must come to pass.

b) What God has spoken will surely happen (Isaiah 55:11)

His word never returns void but accomplishes its purpose.

c) God does exceedingly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)

His blessings are beyond human imagination.

d) Every promise has a due season (Galatians 6:9)

If we do not faint, we will reap in due time.

e) Biblical Example: Simeon and Anna Witnessing Christ’s Birth (Luke 2:25-38)

They waited faithfully and saw the fulfilment of God’s promise in Jesus.

5. THE GREATEST REWARD IS RESERVED FOR THE END

God has saved the ultimate reward—eternal life—for those who endure till the end.

a) Heaven is the final and greatest reward (Revelation 21:4)

No more sorrow, pain, or death in God’s presence.

b) God’s best is reserved for those who finish strong (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

The crown of righteousness awaits those who remain faithful.

c) Jesus Himself is the greatest gift (John 3:16)

He is the gift of salvation and eternal life.

d) We must endure till the end (Matthew 24:13)
