GOD NEEDS YOUR HANDS AND YOUR HEART. COMPASSION? COMPASSION FATIQUE? MAKE TODAY COUNT!
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (FUNERAL, during funeral I give small stone with MTC on them… MAKE TODAY COUNT)
Today we hear a lot about “PAY IT FORWARD!” I love this idea. When I hear the most about PAY IT FORWARD, it is normally someone did something special for me. Very rarely have I heard, I paid it forward for another. KINDNESS is a unique trait of human beings. You do not have to have money to do this. It could be as easy as holding a door, helping carry a load, sharing a smile. Kindness could be allowing a car to pull out. (NEVER MAKE A STRONG MOTION, IF YOU DO AND THEY PULL OUT AND A CAR HITS THEM, YOU CAN BE LIABLE?)
WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO? WHY DON’T YOU DO SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD DO?
Matthew 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
I saw an old man struggling at KFC. He had a walking stick and two plates of food. He was going to have difficulty carrying his food. He was afraid of falling without his stick. What was he going to do? I felt compelled to help him. When I finished I when over and sat down next to him and we started talking. His wife of 62 years had recently been put in the rest home. He was lonely and afraid. The tears started running down his face and I just listened as he poured out his heart. I started crying too. I thanked him, but I felt the need to pray for him. I asked permission, he held his hand out and we cried and prayed together. As I was leaving a lady at the next table thanked me for caring.
Two things we seem to be lacking today: EMOTIONS AND PASSION…
Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
WE MIGHT BE LOOKING FOR THE EASY QUICK WAY? NOT THE JOURNEY OF COMPASSION?
I was at a huge Nashville Hospital visiting a dear friend. We had a super visit, While waiting for an elevation I looked of down town Nashville. I saw a little old black lady sitting in a wheelchair looking out the window. She could not walk. I noticed she was quietly crying. I was touched, but when the elevator opened I over rode the emotions I was feeling. I felt I should listen to her story. I got on the elevator and rode down to the first floor and was going out the door. I had to return. I might have prayed she would be gone. The door opened and the cripple little black lady was staring out the window and tears running across her cheeks. I sat down next to her and patted her hands. She never looked up. I could feel her pain. I noticed both of her legs was gone. She explained to me the doctors had to cut her legs off. Her family lived hours away and the rarely came to see her. I sat there 2 hours and we cried together. We talked, I mainly just listened to her. She had been a singer at her church. The young people never knew her. I quoted her some verses of comfort. I got up to leave and walked to the elevator. She called me back to her side. She looked up at me and told me my white hair was beautiful. Then she asked me: SIR, ARE YOU AN ANGEL? WHAT IS YOUR NAME? MICHAEL? I explained, I AM NOT AN ANGEL, MY NAME DOES NOT MATTER, I JUST LOVE JESUS. She said again: I THINK GOD SENT YOU TO ME, YOU HAVE TO BE AN ANGEL? I cried all the way home. HOW MANY OLD PEOPLE JUST NEED A PERSON TO LISTEN? PAY IT FORWARD!
What motives us? INVESTING IN PEOPLE COULD BE THE BEST THING? How many kids were up all night. Mom and dad were drunk, high on drugs, screaming and fighting. The kid goes to bed in great fear and praying the best they know how. The kid is dirty and smell? The kid may be hungry and tired. He lays his head on the desk and other kids laugh at him? COULD SOMEONE ALLOW GOD TO USE THEM SOME WAY?
