Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

Pass through the camp and command the people, Prepare your provisions, for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.

H. Key thought: how to be successful in the battle of life

Joshua 1:8-9 (Amplified Bible)

This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD moves with no help from us

"I sent the hornet [that is, the terror of you] before you, which drove the two kings of the Amorites out before you;"

Exodus 23:28 (Amplified Bible)

And I will send hornets before you which shall drive out the Hivite, Canaanite, and Hittite from before you.

Deuteronomy 7:20 (Amplified Bible)

Moreover, the Lord your God will send the ornet among them until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed.

Deuteronomy 2:25 (Amplified Bible)

This day will I begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the peoples who are under the whole heavens, who shall hear the report of you and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.

Psalms 44:2 (Amplified Bible)

You drove out the nations with Your hand and it was Your power that gave [Israel] a home by rooting out the [heathen] peoples, but [Israel] You spread out.

The hornet or wasp might symbolized GOD's terror or GOD's fear moving for Him to accomplish something needing nothing from human intervention.

Deuteronomy 23:14 (Amplified Bible)

For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to give up your enemies before you. Therefore shall your camp be holy, that He may see nothing indecent among you and turn away from you.

If GOD's moves are a mystery to us, how much more the result of His moves in our lives. How much more the mystery of how He moves that accomplishes things for us. He does not need to explain Himself to anyone as if He is accountable to anybody.

B. We have no part on how He moves

"but it was not by your sword or by your bow."

Psalms 44:3-6 (Amplified Bible)

For they got not the land [of Canaan] in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your countenance [did it], because You were favorable toward and did delight in them.

You are my King, O God; command victories and deliverance for Jacob (Israel).

Through You shall we push down our enemies; through Your name shall we tread them under who rise up against us.

For I will not trust in and lean on my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

1 Samuel 17:45 (Amplified Bible)

Then said David to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the ranks of Israel, Whom you have defied.
