God’s work in you is in progress.

Philippians 1:9; 1:25; 2:12 Romans 7:15, 18b

*You can give up on God but God will not give up on you.*

God is an intiator of things. The work he starts in us is a work that He started. God does not wait for us to come to him. He goes before us and plows the ground so we can respond to Him. If I am seeking God today, its because he first sought me. You can take confidence for your lost love one. God is working. He is not satisfied that any will perish but that all will come to repentance. God started the work with Adam and Eve--they were hiding from them but God came looking! Abraham--he was a happy idol worshipper but God started a work so that all people would be blessed thru him. Moses--he was minding is own business in the desert and God starts a work in his life. David--he was a lowly shepherd boy, they least of Jesse’s kids but God was up to something. You can go on and on with biblical examples of how God starts a work.

The work that God will do is a good work. He won’t turn you into some kind of nut. You can trust him with the kind of person he will turn you into. Some people don’t want to trust Him fully because they think they will go off the deep end and become like some evangelical sterotype that is protrayed on TV. We can trust God that His work is a 1 Cor. 13 type of work and a Gal. 5:22 type of work.

God’s work is a in progress work. We are somewhere between beginning the work and bringing it to completion. That’s encouraging for me. Sometimes I regress and grieve the heart of God. At these times God does not throw in the towel but continues his good work. As long as my heart is bent toward him, he will continue that good work. I don’t have to turn into a super-dooper saint over night. No one does. Gods work is in progress. Paul is confident of this becasue of his personal experience--Romans 7
