God Is Able

OUR GOD IS ABLE

Text: Dan. 3:17

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

What is the meanining of ability ?

Ability is the function of of having sufficient:

Power to accomplish a task

Skill to accomplish a task

Resources to accomplish a task

Therefore when we say that God is able we may mean that:

God has the power to perform

What are the things that he has the power to do?

He has the power to reach you wherever you are. He has long arms that can reach anywhere. Ps.139:7-10

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

He has enough power to use to set you free

He has the power to fight against his and your enemies

He has the power to pull down great stronghold like the wall of Jericho.

b) God has the necessary skills to do what you are asking him to do

There are certain things that you may not need power to accomplish but just skills.

God has the necessary skills to do anything.

He has the skill to create something out of nothing. Gen. 1:1

He has the skill to put a barrier between the Egyptians and the Israelis. Exo. 13:20

He has the skill to turn bitter water into sweet water. Exo.15:23

He has the skill to turn water to wine. Jn. 2: 1-5

He has the skill to bring water from the rock. Num. 20:11

He has the skill to make axe head to swim on water thereby violating natural laws. II Kgs. 6:5-6

He has the skill to bring money from the mouth of the fish to pay taxes. Matt.17:26

He has the skill to cause the enemies to hear a frightening noise and run away. Ps. 18:12-13

12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

He has the skill to cause the earth to vibrate violently to swallow up your enemies.

He has the skill to bring down fire from heaven without stricken a matchstick

He has the skill to make those who want to curse you to open their mouth and pronounce blessing Instead

c) God has the resources to do what you are asking from him

To have resources imply that God :

Has abundant source of supply that cannot finish

Has a natural source of wealth/ revenue

Has a network of information that you may require from time to time

He has the technical nohow

What are some of those things?

The earth is the Lord and the fulness thereof

The cattles upon a thousand hills are his

The control of weather favorable and not favorable belongs to him

The angels and the world of spirit and under his control

The information that a man may need to succeed from time to time are with him.
