Summary: As we enter the advent season and we are anticipating the birth of our Lord Jesus, let's look at some crucial characters associated with his birth. Today we want to talk about the Priest Zacharias
Today we we to examine a few things from Zacharias the little that the writer of Luke let's us in on.
Firstly his name means "Yahweh remembers" or "God has remembered"
There is power in names for Zacharias all his life, every time he heard someone call his name it's as if the promise of god was bein activated.
I want to share a few thoughts on being faithful and serving diligently.
in Luke 1;6 the writer let's us in that Zacharias was a righteous and holy man with his wife Elizabeth
1. God still honors people who live a holy life, blameless and righteous before him, even when they miss the mark they are quick to repent. So let's endeavor to live lives that are pure and stay away from sinful habits.
2 In Luke 1:7 the writer let's us in that his wife was barren, so here is another thought, it's possible to live and serve God and there be no fruits but that does not mean that God has abandoned you, sometimes the promise can tarry or delay. God always has a due time for the promise to come to pass.
3. We need to continue to serve faithfully through different seasons, we serve not for things but because we love God, that's how Zacharias was, he was no longer expecting anything but kept serving
4. In Luke 1: 8 it says "and it came to pass" meaning it happened or transpired, the thought here is the angel found Zacharias while serving, sometimes the blessing of the Lord will find you doing the last thing God asked you to in service in his house. He will bring the miracle to pass or to happen whatever you are asking him for.
There is something to be said of being planted and rooted in the things of God.
Let's stay faithful to the call of God in our lives, whatever it is we do in His kingdom, let's serve diligently.
In Luke 1:11 the angel comes unannounced with warning to change Zacharias life
Here is a thought God's answer for your life in this season will come unexpectedly, suddenly.
In Luke 1:13 the angel announces to Zacharias that his prayers have been heard
I want to encourage you to keep praying
His ears are open to the cry of the righteous, you and I who have right standing with him
God is not deaf, he will answer our prayers in due time
Do you have a loved one who is sick, keep praying our God hears
Do you need a job or some provision keep praying the Lord hears you.
Zacharias like I said his name means God has remembered.
May the Lord remember your labor of love
The things you have done in secret for others may he reward you openly
May He remember you like he remembered Rachel and opened her womb
May he remember you like he remembered Hannah and gave her a son
