GOD HAS A PLACE
Gen 50:16-20
16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,
17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
KJV
There is something that I want you to understand tonight, and that is that God has a place for every person , in every situation in this life, and He has a place for you for eternity.
I don’t care what your situation is, whether it be good or bad, happy or sad, gloom or doom, night or day, God has a place for you.
Joseph was a man that went through some trying times in his life.
The Bible tells us that Jacob dwelled in the land where his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
Joseph, his son was seventeen years old and was out feeding the flock with his brethren: and the lad was with the sons of Zil’pah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
Joseph’s dad loved him more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors.
Your Bible says that because of that Joseph’s brothers hated him, to the point that they couldn’t speak peaceably to him.
One night Joseph dreamed a dream and told it to them and they hated him after that even more.
Remember, the dream was that they were binding sheaves in the field, and his sheaf arose and stood up. And their sheaves stood round about and made obeisance to his sheaf.
His brothers said, are you going to reign over us? Are you going to have dominion over us? And now they hated him even more because of his dreams, and for his words.
But God had a place for him.
I don’t care what’s happening in your life or what others think about it, God has a place for you.
As if that wasn’t enough, he dreamed another dream and told that in that dream the sun, moon, and the eleven stars made obeisance to him.
Even his father rebuked him because of the dream. His father said does that mean that I and thy mother and your brethren are going to come to you and bow down to the earth?
His dad sent him one day to the to check on his brothers and report back if they were o.k.
The Bible says that a certain man found him wondering around in a field and asked him what he was doing? His reply was that he was looking for his brothers.
The man told him where they went so he set out to go where they were.
When they saw him coming, they conspired against him to slay him.
They decided to kill him, the dreamer as they called him, and put him in a pit and say that some evil beast had killed him, and then see what become of those dreams.
Listen, God may give you dreams and you need to believe in Him and trust in Him that those dreams will come to pass.
And I will tell you something else, the devil will send you pits along the way, but they cannot and will not interfere with the dreams that God gives you. I said the ones that God gives you.
Get your mind off the pit and put it back on the dream that you know God gave you. When your thoughts are on the dream more than the pit------Come on now, you won’t be able to stay in that thing any longer-----because the power of the dream giver is stronger and will always over ride the one that put you in the pit.
Look up to God, raise your hands and give Him praise, because that is the way you can get Him to come to you in your time of need.
Well, Reuben heard them and said don’t kill him, just put him in a pit that is in the wilderness. (Reuben was going to go and get him out and take him home.)
So, when he got there, they stripped him of his coat of many colors and put him in the pit.
