GOD HAS A PLACE
Gen 50:16-20
16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,
17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
KJV
There is something that I want you to understand tonight, and that is that God has a place for every person , in every situation in this life, and He has a place for you for eternity.
I don’t care what your situation is, whether it be good or bad, happy or sad, gloom or doom, night or day, God has a place for you.
Joseph was a man that went through some trying times in his life.
The Bible tells us that Jacob dwelled in the land where his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
Joseph, his son was seventeen years old and was out feeding the flock with his brethren: and the lad was with the sons of Zil’pah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
Joseph’s dad loved him more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors.
Your Bible says that because of that Joseph’s brothers hated him, to the point that they couldn’t speak peaceably to him.
One night Joseph dreamed a dream and told it to them and they hated him after that even more.
Remember, the dream was that they were binding sheaves in the field, and his sheaf arose and stood up. And their sheaves stood round about and made obeisance to his sheaf.
His brothers said, are you going to reign over us? Are you going to have dominion over us? And now they hated him even more because of his dreams, and for his words.
But God had a place for him.
I don’t care what’s happening in your life or what others think about it, God has a place for you.
As if that wasn’t enough, he dreamed another dream and told that in that dream the sun, moon, and the eleven stars made obeisance to him.
Even his father rebuked him because of the dream. His father said does that mean that I and thy mother and your brethren are going to come to you and bow down to the earth?
His dad sent him one day to the to check on his brothers and report back if they were o.k.
The Bible says that a certain man found him wondering around in a field and asked him what he was doing? His reply was that he was looking for his brothers.
The man told him where they went so he set out to go where they were.
When they saw him coming, they conspired against him to slay him.
They decided to kill him, the dreamer as they called him, and put him in a pit and say that some evil beast had killed him, and then see what become of those dreams.
Listen, God may give you dreams and you need to believe in Him and trust in Him that those dreams will come to pass.
And I will tell you something else, the devil will send you pits along the way, but they cannot and will not interfere with the dreams that God gives you. I said the ones that God gives you.
Get your mind off the pit and put it back on the dream that you know God gave you. When your thoughts are on the dream more than the pit------Come on now, you won’t be able to stay in that thing any longer-----because the power of the dream giver is stronger and will always over ride the one that put you in the pit.
Look up to God, raise your hands and give Him praise, because that is the way you can get Him to come to you in your time of need.
Well, Reuben heard them and said don’t kill him, just put him in a pit that is in the wilderness. (Reuben was going to go and get him out and take him home.)
So, when he got there, they stripped him of his coat of many colors and put him in the pit.
While they were eating, they saw a company of Ish’me-el-ites coming through on their way to Egypt. So they decided it would be more profitable to sale him to them to take to Egypt and sale for a slave.
And so they sold him to them for twenty pieces of silver.
They then killed a kid goat, put it’s blood on the coat of Joseph, took it home and told their dad that something had killed him and they had found his coat.
Now he was gone to Egypt to be sold as a slave, but God had a place for him.
And so hear me tonight, you may be in a hard situation, spiritually, physically, financially, or whatever, but God has a place for you.
I know you may have been in the pit for a long time. You may have taken a journey in your situation that you didn’t want to take, but regardless of all that, God has a place for you in every stage of your journey.
Keep on praising, keep on trusting, keep on reading the word that will make you stronger every day, keep on praying and talking to God, there is a new day coming. You’re not going to be in the pit forever.
Yea, you may feel like a slave, but I would rather be a slave and be in the place of God than to be a king in the devils army.
I would rather be in a far away country and know that I was in the place of God than to be right at home and be lost.
I said I would rather live in heaven---- than to own all earths silver and gold,
I’d rather have Jesus---- than the diamonds of a palace to hold,
I’d rather be a beggar and live in a little shack down by the road,
Than to own all earth’s treasures with no title to a future abode.
If I am in the place of God, it’s more than what I have right now, but it is what I am going to have in the sweat by and by. (Glory to His Name)
I don’t have a little cabin in the corner of glory land, In my Fathers house there are many mansions, and one of them belongs to me.
I’m not going to live on a little old paved street with a dirt road at the end of it, I’m going to have a street of gold in front of my mansion.
He’s not a dirt road God, He’s a gold road God. (Can you say amen?)
Now you know the story, Potiphar bought Joseph, but your Bible says that the Lord was with him.
Can I tell you that it don’t matter who thinks they own you, if you belong to the Lord everything is going to be all right.
The Word says that his master saw that the Lord was with him because the Lord made all that he did to prosper. (Genesis 39:3)
Come on, if God is with you, you can’t help but prosper. You may be broke, but you are coming out of that, you may be sick, but you are coming out. The devil can’t keep you down if you want to get up.
Somewhere along the way God will pick you up out of the pit and put you in a palace, because God has a place for you.
I want to stop right here for a minute and tell you that you have to be honest with God to have all the blessings of God.
Some of you in this room want God to do some special things for you but he can’t because you are not honest with Him.
Listen, you may fool the church, you may fool me for a while---but not for long, but you can never fool God.
And if you are not being honest with Him-------He has a place for you.
And if you think I am wrong, talk to Ananias and Saphira. They tried to fool God. They didn’t give up everything that they told the disciples they did and God had a place just for them. Just because they were dishonest with Him he required of them both their lives.
Come on, we are serving a God that means business.
How could we expect other people to do right if we won’t. How could I expect you to give up all the things of the world if I wasn’t willing to.
What if I snuck around and drank, did drugs, smoked, or any number of things. How could I expect my wife to live right? How could I expect my kids to live right? How could I expect you to live right? How could I think that I was fooling anyone, especially God?
There is somebody in here right now that knows what I am talking about. Listen, God will deal with it if you don’t.
He’s giving you the chance right now to make it right and keep it right. Hear this preacher, God doesn’t like false life styles.
If you are messing around with things of the world or people of the world, get away from them because they will pull you down. Find you some body that is strong in the Lord and stay around them as much as you can.
Tell them why and I assure you they won’t mind.
If you are not strong enough to be mixed up in an organization that is full of people of the world without messing up then get away from it.
That is much better than the other place God has prepared and that is hell!
Come on, in the midst of all your problems, God has a place, and it is just for you.
