GOD DOES NOT THROW THE CLAY AWAY... TRY AGAIN...

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

YOU CAN SEE FARTHER THAN YOU CAN REACH... BUT KEEP REACHING...

Have you ever watched a western where the cowboy falls into QUICKSAND?

The cowboys natural reaction is to kick and fight.

The more the cowboy moves quickly and kicks and fights the quicker he sinks.

The harder you try, the deeper you go, the quicksand will pull you down.

A SMART COWBOY KNOWS... DO NOT FIGHT IT...

SLOWLY PADDLE TOWARD SAFETY, MOVE ONE INCH AT A TIME...

THE VERY NATURE OF LIFE'S PROBLEMS ARE THAT THE HARDER YOU FIGHT

THE DEEPER YOU GO...

OFTEN TIMES THE ANSWER TO PPROBLEMS MAYBE HIDDEN IN THE WAY YOU

APPROACH THE PROBLEM.

TEAM WORK? USE YOUR HEAD AND YOUR HEART...

TRIUMPH IS A LITTLE TRY WITH A BIG ---UMPH...

THE WEEPING PROPHET?

GOD DOES NOT THROW AWAY THE CLAY...

JEREMIAH WAS CALLED AT A YOUNG AGE...

Jeremiah was a faithful and a good worker for God.

His message was rejected and THUS JEREMIAH WAS AN UNPOPULAR PREACHER.

Jeremiah taught JUDGMENT IS SURE, JUDGMENT IS COMING...

Jeremiah had a one room, dirt floor, one cot --- not successful--- MEAGER EXISTENCE.

Jeremiah decided he would just QUIT --- THROW IT ALL AWAY...

JEREMIAH 20:9

JEREMIAH WAS A VERY SENSITIVE MAN THAT LOVED GOD WITH HIS ALL...

JEREMIAH 18:1 -6

THE CLAY WAS MARRED IN THE HAND OF THE POTTER...

THE POTTER HAS TWO CHOICES:

1. THROW THE CLAY AWAY ---CURSE IT, GET OVER IT...

2. TRY AGAIN, MASH THE CLAY, WET IT, AND WORK WITH IT UNTIL...

MARRED: TO RUIN THE BEAUTY OR PERFECTION OF SOMETHING...

To hurt or damage the good condition, to inflict harm, blemish...

SO HE MADE IT AGAIN...

it is easier to throw it away...

GOD LOVES MARRED CLAY... EMPTY AND BROKEN...

I bought a new 1973 Volkswagen Beetle.

The first time I was out driving the VW at night there came a very hard rain.

I was in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, with NO WIND SHIELD WIPERS.

I saw a garage that was still opened, so I pulled my blue Beetle up to the bay

and I went in and talked with the men that were sitting around chewing tobacco

and discussing local issues.

I waited my turn and I asked: MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE NOT WORKING.

Could anyone help me? They opened the door and I pulled the VW Beetle into the bay.

Two or three of the men walked around my car. They discussed my problem and one

of the men came to me with their solution: JUNK THAT FOREIGN CAR and BUY AN

AMERICAN ONE!

I was kind of hurt at their suggestion and I drove the rest of the way home in the

rain. The next day I drove to THE BUG DOCTOR in Harrigate, Tennessee. I explained

to him my problem, he walked over and pulled out a drawer and got something in his

hand. He walked to the VW BEETLE, opened the door, pulled out the old fuse and placed

a new fuse in the car. The wipers worked!

I drove that VW 7 years for over 200,000 miles and when I drove to Knoxville and traded

it... THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE STILL WORKING... What if I heeded those men.

The car was junk in their opinion. It was my best car ever... JUNK? JEWEL?

Recently I was back to that area and visited a man named Wayne Wheeler. Wayne

is now 93 and in the rest home. He mentioned to me --- almost 40 years later: REMEMBER

THAT BLUE VW BEETLE that just keep on running...

IT IS ALWAYS TOO SOON TO QUIT... TRY AGAIN...

DON'T DESPAIR...

2 Corinthians 4:8

Charles Swindoll tells a story of a Missionary lady that was sitting in the window of her

apartment. The lady need money to pay her rent. The Missionary was opening her mail while

looking out the window. She just happened to focus on a poor man very shabbily dress. She

watched him as people came and went, they stopped and talked to him.

As the Missionary lady opened one letter there was a $10 bill enclosed. The lady held

the $10, it was not enough to minister to her need and beside that she felt compelled to give

it to the shabby looking man on the street.. . So she enclosed the $10 in an envelope and

wrote: DON'T DESPAIR!

The people that lived in the apartment used strings to raise and lower things to their

apartments. So she tied the envelope with $10 in it and she lowered the envelope to the

poor man leaning against the wall. She thought, HE NEEDS THE MONEY WORSE THAN

I DO?

The stranger standing there received the envelope with "DON'T DESPAIR!" The very poor
