Summary: The question is not where is the God of Elijah! The question is where are the Elijah's of God. Hurt and disappointments seem to limit our spiritual vision. Look at Jeremiah C. Lanphier

GOD DO IT AGAIN --- ONE HEART BEAT AWAY…

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

**The question is not where is the God of ELIJAH… the question is WHERE ARE THE ELIJAH’S OF GOD? Is there an Elijah in our midst? Is there a Deborah? Esther? Ruth? Arise David’s heart in our camp.

**I AM GOING TO BE VERY OFFENSIVE AND I HOPE YOU WILL FORGIVE ME… we grow a tendency to that allows SCALES TO GROW ON OUR EYES.

On the Emmaus Road two men that had believed were now so blind they could not see Jesus was walking with them. They were physically and spiritually blind by hurt and disappointment.

CAN WE SEE SCALES OF HURT AND DISTORTION CAN DO TO OUR EYES… WE TRUSTED--- PAST TENSE

Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

LORD PLEASE OPEN OUR EYES TO SEE ETERNITY MORE CLEARLY.

Luke 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

**WE MUST INVADE HELL’S TERRITORY… WE ARE ONE HEART BEAT FROM ETERNITY? OUR LOVED ONES COULD BE ONE HEART BEAT FROM HELL? Lord stamp eternity on my eye lids.

James 5:16 (NIV) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

James 5:16 (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

James 5:16 (MSG) Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.

AMP: James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another (your false steps, your offenses), and pray for one another, that you maybe healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much (when put into action and made effective by God--- it is dynamic and can have tremendous power.)

THE CRY FOR VERY FERVENT ---VERY EARNEST PRAYER.

Have you ever heard of the LAYMEN’S REVIVAL THAT SPREAD ACROSS THE USA? THE CRY WAS FERVENT AND EARNESTNESS.

I have heard the story of a man 161 years ago that called for prayer in New York City. It was September 23, 1857 when a church, Old Dutch North Church on Fulton and Williams Street, allowed this man to use a third floor room for his call to prayer for this area. He called the city to prayer every Wednesday.

The Old Dutch Church was in a terrible decline. So the church hired a man named JEREMIAH C. LANPHIER. This man had been CALLED visiting the neighborhoods around the church. Many of the churches in the area closed and sold their buildings to businesses. Jeremiah had no church experience. Soon Jeremiah was so discouraged and weary in the church work. Jeremiah felt the Lord to call the business men are the church to a prayer meeting.

The man made a sign and placed it on the side walk in front of the church. PRAYER HERE FROM NOON TO ONE PM. Stop in for 5, 10 or 20 minutes. His first day, NO ONE CAME after all his work. Half way through the first hour one waiter stopped. That was all? After some time 6 men gathered in the room to pray. They agree to come the next Wednesday to pray. No bolts of lightning accorded, it was just a brief time of prayer.

In 1800 there had been a strong prayer season and a revival that touched the nation. But by 1843 the revival seemed to be dead and religion was in decline. Prosperity? Gold rush? New Railroads? The battle over slavery was hot and heavy?

There were 20 business men the next Wednesday. 40 men the next. Jeremiah felt to ask the church leaders for a larger room as the crowds increased. This was September. On Wednesday October 14 the USA was hit hard by one of the most horrible financial crisis. The nation went into a panic. There was a run on the banks. Banks immediately closed. The economy crashed. There were no jobs. Food was in short supply. People were crushed and there was no hope. The prayer meetings grew and 3,000 people were at prayer. The meetings grew as farmers came into the city, doctors, lawyers, bankers, business men, workers were gathering for intense seasons of prayer. Prayer went from Wednesday to daily.
