It is so interesting that as we have been going through the Gospel of Luke, this passage would be 3 days before Christmas is celebrated. Many people have already given gifts to the people in their lives; but some are still trying to figure out that perfect gift. I will tell you that the perfect gift was given over 2,000 years ago. This passage captures the heart of our faith- The miraculous birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His perfect and powerful gift changed the course of history. As we reflect on the story of Mary and Joseph, with its humble setting and the angels’ message to the shepherds, we see that God's gifts often come in surprising ways. In a World that values wealth and grandeur, God chose simplicity and vulnerability to reveal His greatest treasure.
