Summary: Do we recognize God's majesty?

Whose name is majestic in all the earth? Why does God love the inhabitants of a tiny planet like ours? Let’s look at Psalm 8.

Do even the smallest voices silence the enemy as they praise God’s majesty?

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. (Ps 8:1-2 ESV)

Do we ask why God even remembers puny mankind on a tiny planet tucked away in a minuscule corner of the universe?

When I observe Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You set in place, what is man that You remember him, the son of man that You look after him? (Ps 8:3-4 HCSB)

Is humanity’s status between that of angels and all land animals, birds and fish?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. (Ps 8:5-8 KJV)

Does the Psalm finish by echoing the first stanza like bookends?

Lord, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth! (Ps 8:9 ISV)

Did Jesus quote this Psalm after children were shouting His praise?

But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant, and they said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘From the mouths of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself’?” (Mat 21:15-16 NASB)

Whose name is majestic in all the earth? Why does God love the inhabitants of a tiny planet like ours? You decide!
