Go! And Live in God's Faithful Love - Lamentations 3:22-23

Introduction: The Faithfulness of God in the Midst of Brokenness

Life is filled with hardships. Pain, loss, and disappointment are part of the human experience. We live in a world that is broken by sin, and at times, we may feel overwhelmed by the weight of suffering.

Yet, in the darkest moments, God’s love remains steadfast. Even when everything seems lost, His mercies never fail.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT) declares:

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

This powerful passage was written during a time of immense suffering, yet it speaks of unwavering hope. Today, we will explore how we can Go! And Live in God's Faithful Love—trusting in His mercy, resting in His faithfulness, and walking in the confidence that each day is a fresh start in His grace.

1. Go! And Trust in God’s Unfailing Love

Lamentations 3:22 begins with a profound truth:

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!”

The Hebrew phrase for "faithful love" is ????? (chesed)—a word that describes God’s covenantal, steadfast, loyal love. It is a love that does not depend on our actions but on God's unchanging nature.

Throughout Scripture, we see this love demonstrated:

Psalm 136:1 (NLT) – "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever."

This refrain appears 26 times in Psalm 136, emphasising that God's love is eternal.

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) – "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love… Neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love."

Paul declares that God’s love is unbreakable—nothing in heaven or earth can remove us from it!

When we feel abandoned, we must remember: God's love is unchanging and everlasting!

Trust in His love even when circumstances seem bleak—He remains faithful.

Live with confidence: You are loved by God with an unshakable, eternal love!

A mother tucks her child into bed and whispers, “I love you.” The child asks, “Will you love me tomorrow?” The mother smiles, “My love for you will never end.”

If human love can be so deep, how much greater is God's chesed—His steadfast love that never fails?

Timothy Keller wrote: “God’s love is not a response to our worthiness, but to His own faithfulness.”

2. Go! And Rest in God’s Never-Ending Mercies

Lamentations 3:22 continues:

“His mercies never cease.”

The word for "mercies" in Hebrew is ???????? (rachamim)—which comes from the root word ????? (rechem), meaning "womb." This paints a picture of deep, compassionate, motherly care. God’s mercy is not cold or distant—it is tender and full of love.

Consider these verses:

Psalm 103:8 (NLT) – "The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love."

God’s mercy is abundant—it overflows toward us.

Ephesians 2:4-5 (NLT) – "But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead."

God's mercy is the foundation of our salvation!

God's mercy never runs out—it is always available to us.

No sin is too great that His mercy cannot forgive.

We must extend mercy to others just as He has shown mercy to us (Luke 6:36).

Imagine a well that never runs dry. No matter how much you draw from it, fresh water keeps flowing. That is what God’s mercy is like—endless, overflowing, always available.

A.W. Tozer wrote: "God never runs out of mercy. He gives mercy anew every morning."

3. Go! And Walk in God’s Daily Renewed Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:23 declares:

“Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

The Hebrew word for "faithfulness" is ???????? (emunah), which means firmness, reliability, and truthfulness. God is completely trustworthy—what He promises, He will do.

Consider these verses:

Deuteronomy 7:9 (NLT) – "Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations."

God’s faithfulness is generational—it never wavers.

2 Timothy 2:13 (NLT) – "If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is."

Even when we fail, God remains steadfast!

Wake up each day with fresh confidence—God’s faithfulness is renewed!

When you doubt, remind yourself: God has never failed, and He never will!

Align your life with His faithfulness—walk in obedience and trust.

A sunrise is a daily reminder that God’s faithfulness never ends. No matter how dark the night, the sun always rises again. Likewise, no matter what we face, God's mercies are new every morning!

Charles Spurgeon said: "God writes with a pen that never blots, speaks with a tongue that never slips, and acts with a hand that never fails."
