Summary: 2 Corinthians 8:14 "But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:"

At the time I read this scripture I wasn't much of a giver but The Holy Spirit through this scripture showed me being part of the Body of Christ, I had to give what the Lord has blessed me with to "equalise" where another believer lacked. Paul said we bring equality to the Body of Christ when we give where there is lack. God is our Source so we shouldn't hold on too tightly to what He has blessed us with because He blesses us to help others and be a blessing, "freely you have received, freely give" (Matthew 10:8). One of the scriptures that further opened my eyes to giving was Psalm 24:1 "The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." The scripture mentions "the world" which means money, wealth, possessions all belong to Him. Paul said we came into this world with nothing and we leave with nothing we are only stewards of what God has blessed us with so when we give we give knowing He is our inexhaustible Source. Giving and getting more than we initially gave doesn't make sense in the natural, but God said He will give us exceedingly abundantly more than we give because He is the Source. Only by God can we get more than we give and He gives power to make wealth but in seemingly impossible situations, He will provide supernaturally like He did with Elijah, with provision coming from what seems like no where. Many believers saw God's supernatural provision in the tough period of Covid with lockdowns, but lived in an abundance that totally confounded in the natural. God will direct and put in certain people's hearts to give whether they are believers or not because the world and its fullness All belong to Him. It all belongs to Him.

Giving shows we know our Source which is not our jobs, or whatever earthly source, it shows God we trust Him and acknowledge Him as our Provider. Holding on to things says we've forgotten our Source and we've chosen the limited supply over the unlimited supply. The Lord tells us in many places in the Bible to give generously because if we give sparingly we will reap sparingly but when we give bountifully we reap bountifully. He is faithful to His Word so even if we don't see it immediately provision will come, He is God and always has a way. At one point people who gave their first salary all away didn't make sense to me at first but I understood later it was because they saw God as their Source not their finances or their job and because they put absolute faith in Him, God supernaturally provided and I have never known any of them to live in anything less than exceeding abundance more than they could ask or think, because of that act of faith.

God gives seed to the sower. In 2 Corinthians 9:8 Paul says God is able to make all grace abound towards us so that we, having sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:" We are born again new creatures, created in Christ to do good works. Giving is a good work and a fruit of righteousness (2 Corinthians 9:10). God our Source and Provider gives us grace that makes us sufficient to give, and our giving not only supplies others needs but draws people to God in thanksgiving. Giving is one of the ways we draw people to God, His love and care for people is expressed through acts of kindness and compassion that reveal His Character, and can open up non intrusive doors to talk about God.

God in one matchless act, gave us His only Son to die for our sins, no one can out give God. Giving reflects God's Nature in us by Christ in us the hope of glory, if it's done willingly and cheerfully and not grudgingly. It's God's Nature to give so seeing His Nature manifested in us through giving helps us bond with Him. In a world that promotes self centeredness and as a result selfishness, giving brings equality between those who have and those who don't have and brings a godly balance.
