Explores the importance of seeking God's wisdom, living with gratitude, and cultivating peace in our hearts.
Good morning, dear friends. We gather here today with hearts full of hope. We gather in this sacred space to seek wisdom. Wisdom that guides us through life's storms. Wisdom that lights our path.
Our guide today is a passage from the Bible. A passage that speaks of peace. A passage that speaks of knowledge. A passage that speaks of living life with gratitude.
This passage is from Colossians 3:15-17. It reads,
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
These words, they resonate with us. They give us hope. They give us direction.
Dr. David Jeremiah once said, "No matter what our circumstances, we can find a reason to be thankful." This quote reminds us of the importance of being thankful, even in situations that are difficult.
Today, we will talk about these things. We will talk about the peace of God. We will talk about the Word of God. We will talk about living our lives for God.
But before we begin, let us pray.
Dear God, we thank You for this day. We thank You for Your Word that guides us. We ask for Your wisdom as we seek to understand Your teachings. We ask for Your peace to fill our hearts. We ask for Your guidance as we strive to live our lives for You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let’s get started!
In the midst of life's storms, we often find ourselves yearning for a sense of calm, a sense of tranquility that seems just out of reach. This yearning, this deep-seated desire for peace, is not a mere whim or a fleeting wish. It's a fundamental human need, a need that can only be fulfilled by the peace of Christ. This peace, as described in the passage from Colossians, is not a superficial or temporary state of calm. It's a profound, enduring sense of tranquility that permeates our very being, that rules in our hearts.
Not a passive state of being: It's not something that just happens to us. It's something we actively choose, something we consciously allow to rule in our hearts. It's a decision we make, a commitment we undertake, to let the peace of Christ guide our thoughts, our words, our actions. It's a way of life, a way of being, that reflects our deep faith in Christ, our unwavering trust in His wisdom, His love, His grace.
Not a solitary pursuit: It's a collective endeavor, a shared journey. As members of one body, we are called to peace. We are called to foster a sense of unity, a sense of community, a sense of belonging, that is grounded in the peace of Christ. We are called to support each other, to encourage each other, to uplift each other, in our pursuit of this peace. We are called to be peacemakers, to be ambassadors of Christ's peace in a world that is often marked by conflict, by division, by strife.
Not an abstract or elusive concept: It's a tangible, achievable reality. It's a reality that is manifested in our daily lives, in our interactions with others, in our response to challenges, in our approach to life's ups and downs. It's a reality that is shaped by our faith, our hope, our love, our gratitude. It's a reality that is enriched by the message of Christ, by the wisdom of His teachings, by the power of His love.
Not a static or stagnant state of being: It's a dynamic, evolving process. It's a process that involves learning, growing, changing, transforming. It's a process that involves teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom, singing to God with gratitude in our hearts. It's a process that involves living our lives in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
