19 and I’ll say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!’ 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool….

Time will prove the psalmist to be correct.

The psalmist unfolds the happiness of the righteous along three lines.

Ps 1:1-Growth Pattern

He walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,

• Without God,

• Ungodly translated wicked means to be wrong, unjust, or guilty, either to condemn as guilty or to act wickedly.

• Ungodly – Forgetful careless lives

• Pursuing his dreams, goals, & plans but not God

• Disrespect, Denying, Disobeying God

Nor standeth in the way of sinners,

• Results in excepting sin

• By his lifestyle he hinders Christ’s work

Nor sitteth the seat of scornful

• Rebellious to God - Approves of sin

• Mocks Christ the church & scripture

• Antagonistic to Christianity

Watch Young Children Grow.

At first their attempts to stay upright without slumping over.

- Then we get excited when they learn to crawl and pull themselves up to stand.

- Then they start walking by holding our hands or supporting themselves by holding on to the furniture.

- Then it isn’t long until they start walking on their own.

- As we mature we learn to sit, then to stand and then to walk.

- Natural progression .....sit, stand, walk.

Psalm 1 the progression is backwards?

- The growth is reversed.

- It is: walk, stand, and sit.

- The momentum is going backwards it is reversed -- until they stop completely.

- They begin by being able to walk and they end up immobilized.

Do I Delight in the Word?

John 1:1–4 (AV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

John 1:14 (AV)

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
