"George's Memorial"
Contributed by James Parker on Mar 8, 2011 (message contributor)
Summary: A memorial sermon for an elderly believer who spent the last years of his life on kidney dialysis.
Scripture reading: John 14: 1-6
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus' disciples were troubled at the thought of losing Jesus the one whom they loved
Our hearts are troubled because we too have lost one whom we love
Jesus reminds his disciples of their trust in God and tells them to trust in Him.
Trust that he will prepare a place for them
Trust that they will be with him again
"George" would remind us at this time to trust in God and trust in his only begotten Son Jesus
Trust that He has prepared a place for "George"
Trust that "George" is in the presence of Jesus
Trust that Jesus has prepared a place for us as well
and if "George" is with Jesus and we can be with Jesus we will also see "George" again
Jesus told his disciples that he was the way the truth and the life
and that no man can come to the Father but by Him.
Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father
Thats the truth.
"George" knew the truth.
He know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior
Let not your hearts be troubled
"George" will never be hooked up to machine again
Trust in God and in His Son Jesus
Jesus prepared the way via the cross at Calvary
He prepared a special place for "George" in his presence
Know the truth
There is one way to the Father by the Son
"George" knew the truth
Do You?
