Contributed by Dean Courtier on Oct 15, 2013 (message contributor)
Summary: Is there something that you have been praying about, something that you are going through, something you are worried about going through? What is it that you want God to do? What is the prayer of your heart? What do you need God to do in your life?

I usually start with a question for you... today is no different.
What is it that you want God to do?
What is the prayer of your heart?
What do you need God to do in your life?
Is there something that you have been praying about,
something that you are going through,
something you are worried about going through?
What is it that you want God to do?
Are you worried about the future or is there a real problem today?
What circumstance are you in?
What is the issue you need to get over?
What is the challenge you need to overcome?
What is it you need victory over?
What is it that you want God to do?
Maybe you have been thinking about one of those,
or some of those, or all of those questions.
Maybe you have been mulling things over for a while.
Maybe you need God to do something simple.
Maybe you need God to work a miracle.
Maybe you need God to provide.
Maybe you need healing.
What is it that you want God to do?
Whatever it is God is able.
God is the answer in every circumstance and we can trust Him in every situation.
We can trust His mercy, we can trust His love,
we can trust His Grace, we can trust in Him.

The text I want us to focus on this morning is Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
What is it that you want God to do?
What do you need to trust God to do?
Friends, this morning we can thank God for who He is.
And because of who He is we can trust Him to keep His promises.
The Bible is full of promises.
Some promises were for specific people at specific times.
Other promises apply to everyone who places their trust in the Lord.
And maybe this morning,
whatever your situation,
whatever your circumstance,
whatever your challenge
you need to take hold of this promise and Trust God to lead you and guide you and bless you.
God is worthy of your trust.
His love, His mercy, His Grace, His Power -
every attribute you can think of that are part of His nature means that when God promises to work in you and through you - He will accomplish His plan and His purpose in your life.
What do you need to trust God to do?
When we place our trust in Him, we are trusting in the only one who already knows what will happen. What He has ordained will happen.
If we could see our circumstances and situations as God sees them, I’m convinced we would react and behave differently when we face trials and tribulations.
Our Eternal God sees the Big picture - He sees the beginning, the middle and the end.
Our focus is temporal, we look can look back at the past, we can focus on the present, but we can’t see the future... yet we spend so much time worrying about it don’t we.
When we go to bed at night our mind can whirl with fears of what tomorrow may bring.
We can spend the night worrying about many things,
Did I lock the front door?
Did I unplug the kettle?
Did I set the alarm clock?
Will it go off in the morning?
What should I have for breakfast?
Did I remember to buy milk?
Did I give the cat the last of the milk?
Did I put the cat out?
Should I buy a cat so I have one to put out at night?
We worry about so many little things don’t we...
Jesus in Matthew 6:34 said “don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Easier said than done isn’t it. We know it, we quote it, it’s harder to really live it.
1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
If we could only trust how much He really cares for us, how much happier would we be...
... if our expectations aligned with what God has already promised...
perhaps we would find it easier to really trust the Lord with all our heart and depend less on our abilities.
Maybe your biggest challenge to trusting God is your expectations.
We need to see our circumstances as God sees them,
We need to look through His eyes,
