Summary: When you forgive and forget, forget that you forgave while you’re at it! The problem Christians have most, is in the area of forgiveness. Let’s examine the principles together!
Introduction
Forgiveness, why is it so hard!
One reason may be, we don’t understand truly what the offended has gone through. Maybe then we’d be more compassionate and patient.
If there is a subject more misunderstood than forgiveness, I’d like to know what it is. It can be confusing. However, forgiveness what ever it is or is not must be an important subject because Jesus Himself said it was an essential part of the Christian life.
Jesus taught us all the principles and God’s plan regarding forgiveness as Matthew records His words in the sixth chapter. Let’s examine it together!
Main Division
I. The Petition (6:9-12a)
II. The Provision (12b)
III. The Promise (13-14)
IV. The Penalty (15)
Conclusion: Forgive and be forgiven!
