Summary: The five desires of Moses
FIVE DESIRES OF MOSES
EXODUS 33
EXODUS 33:13 – SHOW ME YOUR WAY - Moses prayed to know the way of God. He wanted to be sure he was leading the people the right way. Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way that seems right unto man but the end is the way of death. Psalm 103:7 – God made known His ways to Moses and His works to the children of Israel.
EXODUS 33:13 – THAT I MAY KNOW YOU – Moses prayed to know God and not just to know about God but know him intimately and personally. Moses wrote 5 books of the Bible. Genesis – Deuteronomy. Moses knew the Word of God but Moses wanted to know the God of the Word.
EXODUS 33:13 – THAT I MAY FIND GRACE OR FAVOR IN YOUR SIGHT
Moses prayed for God’s favor. We should pray for God’s favor.
EXODUS 13:14-15 - THAT I WILL HAVE GOD’S PRESENCE – Moses knew He must have God’s presence with him. Moses knew he could not do it without God. If God is not with me I can’t do it, but if God is with me I can do anything.
EXODUS 13:18 – SHOW ME YOUR GLORY - Moses wants to see God in a way that he has never seen Him before. This is how we should be. We should strive everyday to get to know God better and better, richer, deeper in our worship life.
HABAKKUK 2:14 – THE EARTH SHALL BE FILLED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY,
AS THE WATER COVERS THE SEA.
HAGGAI 2:9 – THE GLORY OF THIS LATTER HOUSE SHALL BE GREATER THAN THE FORMER.
THE GLORY IS THE PRESENCE OF GOD! God is everywhere but He does not manifest His presence everywhere. God is present where He is worshipped. (Ps. 22:3) God is present when His is Honored or Revered. Jesus said, when you pray say, O Father in heaven, Hallowed or Holy be your name.
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF GLORY – SHEKINAH GLORY AND KABOD GLORY!
Shekinah Glory is the seen presence of God. A pillar of cloud, a pillar of fire, Light, Smoke, Brightness, Glowing, Glistening. Shekinah glory is also protection! Kabod Glory – Is the felt presence, The weighty presence.
Adam and Eve were covered with the glory. Sin lifted the glory. They tried to cover with leaves but didn’t work. They covered with animal skins because this was the shedding of blood. When you and I were born we were born sinners and one day I ask Jesus to come into my heart and save me. When I did I felt the Glory of God fill my soul. I even remember that great feeling when I was water baptized. Times I was praising the Lord. It takes the blood of Jesus to get that weighted presence.
In the anointing we work. In the glory we rest. The glory brings refreshment and renewal.
We need to wait on the glory. (Isaiah 40:31)
Psalm 63: 1-2 - O God, you are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You, In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
2 Corinthians 4:17 - For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
