This sermon encourages embracing God's promises as realities, forming the foundation of our lives, and finishing the year strong through His unchanging faithfulness.
Good morning, dear family of faith. Draw near and lend your hearts to the words of our beloved Father, as we gather in unity and love to hear His divine message today. We are here, not by coincidence, but by divine appointment. We are here not as mere spectators, but as active participants in the grand narrative of God's redemptive story.
Our Scripture for today is Genesis 24:35, "The Lord has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys." This passage, dear friends, is a testament to God's faithfulness, a vivid picture of His promises fulfilled, and a beacon of hope for us as we approach the end of another year.
In the words of the revered preacher David Nicholas, "God's promises are like the stars; the darker the night, the brighter they shine." Today, we shall see these stars in their full brilliance, illuminating our path as we walk towards the end of this year, not with uncertainty, but with the assurance of God's unchanging faithfulness.
We are not going to merely examine these truths today; we are going to live them, breathe them, and allow them to permeate our very beings. We will not just listen to them; we will internalize them, allowing them to shape our thoughts, our actions, and our lives.
We will see how our faith forms the very foundation of our lives. We will see how God's promises are not just words, but realities that come to fruition in His perfect timing. And we will see how we can finish this year strong, not because of our own strength, but because of the strength we find in our God who never fails.
As we consider the words of Genesis 24:35, we are reminded of the abundant blessings that God bestowed upon Abraham's servant's master. This master, Abraham, was a man of great faith. His faith was not built on shifting sands, but on the solid rock of God's promises. This is the kind of faith that we are called to have. A faith that is unshakeable, unmovable, and unbreakable. A faith that forms the very foundation of our lives.
This faith is a gift from God! Perhaps more a response to His grace. It is a faith that believes in the unseen, trusts in the unknown, and hopes in the seemingly impossible. It is a faith that is not swayed by circumstances but stands firm in the face of trials and tribulations.
Abraham's faith was an active faith that led him to leave his homeland and venture into the unknown at God's command. It was a faith that led him to believe in God's promise of a son, even when it seemed impossible due to his old age. This active faith is what we are called to have. A faith that is not content with merely hearing God's Word, but is compelled to act upon it. A faith that does not just believe in God's promises, but lives them out.
God blessed Abraham abundantly, making him wealthy in livestock, silver, gold, servants, camels, and donkeys. These blessings benefitted both Abraham's and his offspring. They were a testament to God's faithfulness, a demonstration of His power, and a witness to His glory.
These blessings were not the result of Abraham's efforts but of God's grace. They were not the product of Abraham's wisdom but of God's providence. As we consider these blessings, we are reminded that our faith is not in vain. Our faith in God's promises is not futile. Our faith in God's power is not fruitless. Our faith in God's providence is not pointless. Our faith in God's grace is not groundless.
Application questions. As we reflect on these truths, we are challenged to examine our own faith. Is our faith like that of Abraham's, built on the solid rock of God's promises? Is our faith active, compelling us to act upon God's Word? Is our faith the means by which we receive God's blessings? As we ponder these questions, we are encouraged to cultivate a faith that is unshakeable, unmovable, and unbreakable. A faith that forms the very foundation of our lives.
