INTRODUCTION:
Life often presents situations that seem impossible. Barriers, delays, and opposition can make progress appear unattainable. The Jews in Shushan faced a death decree, and the situation appeared hopeless.
Yet, God’s favour is not subject to human limitations. It can reverse situations, open doors that seem closed, and give courage to confront danger with divine confidence. Favour is not earned by human strength, but it is a gift from God that positions you for breakthrough.
This message encourages believers to seek God’s favour through prayer, fasting, and obedience, demonstrating that when God’s hand is upon you, no barrier can stand in your way. Esther’s story is a clear example of how favour can deliver a nation and break through life-threatening opposition.
1. GOD’S FAVOUR OPENS CLOSED DOORS
Favour gives you access where others are restricted. It makes the impossible possible and brings you into divine opportunities.
a) The king’s scepter extended (Esther 5:2)
God’s favour positioned Esther before the king, allowing her access that had been barred for thirty days. Favour opens doors that no human effort can open.
b) Prayer and fasting activate favour (Esther 4:16)
Esther’s decision to fast for three days before approaching the king positioned her under divine blessing. Spiritual preparation attracts God’s supernatural intervention.
c) Boldness in the face of risk (Esther 4:11)
Favour empowers courage to confront danger and step into divine assignments without fear.
d) Favour brings supernatural acceptance (Daniel 1:9)
Like Daniel, favour causes authorities to respond positively, giving you influence beyond your natural abilities.
Biblical Example:
Esther approached the king despite the law that could have cost her life, and God’s favour allowed her to stand in his presence and save her people (Esther 5:2–3).
2. FAVOUR BREAKS BARRIERS OF OPPOSITION
God’s favour does not only open doors; it neutralizes the power of your adversaries and dismantles plots set against you.
a) Overcoming Haman’s plot (Esther 4:13–14)
Though Haman had planned destruction, God’s favour on Esther gave her wisdom and strategy to turn the tables.
b) Divine timing works with favour (Psalm 5:12)
Favour positions you at the right time, giving you advantage over adversaries.
c) Favour protects and delivers (Proverbs 3:4)
God’s blessing shields you from harm while providing success even in hostile environments.
d) Favour multiplies influence (Esther 5:2)
One act of divine favour can have ripple effects, changing destinies beyond personal gain.
Biblical Example:
Joseph faced betrayal and imprisonment, yet God’s favour elevated him above his enemies, placing him in authority over Egypt (Genesis 39:2-4).
3. FAVOUR REQUIRES OBEDIENCE AND FAITH
Favour is activated by aligning with God’s will and stepping out in faith. God honours those who obey Him and trust His guidance.
a) Esther obeyed Mordecai’s instructions (Esther 4:16)
She did not act on her own understanding but followed God-directed counsel, showing that favour comes with obedience.
b) Faith over fear (Hebrews 11:6)
Trusting God in risky situations positions you for supernatural breakthrough.
c) Spiritual preparation matters (Daniel 1:8-9)
Consistent prayer, fasting, and integrity attract God’s favour in every area of life.
d) Waiting on God’s timing (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Favour often manifests in alignment with divine timing, not human urgency.
Biblical Example:
Noah built the ark as God commanded, and favour preserved his life and the lives of his family while the world perished (Genesis 6:22).
4. FAVOUR BRINGS DIVINE INCREASE AND PROMOTION
Favour not only opens doors and removes obstacles but also brings promotion, influence, and blessing beyond expectation.
a) Esther’s request granted (Esther 5:2-3)
The king was ready to grant whatever she asked, demonstrating that favour leads to supernatural provision and authority.
b) Increase comes through God’s hand (Psalm 115:14)
True advancement is divinely orchestrated, not dependent on human effort alone.
c) Promotion through integrity (Proverbs 22:29)
Favour elevates those who act with wisdom and integrity in their assignments.
d) Blessings multiply (Malachi 3:10)
Favour positions you for abundance, enabling your life to bless others as well.
Biblical Example:
Joseph’s favour with Pharaoh led to his promotion and the preservation of nations during famine (Genesis 41:39-43).
CONCLUSION:
Favour that breaks barriers is available to every believer willing to seek God’s face with faith, obedience, and humility. Like Esther, you can step into divine assignments that seem impossible and witness God’s hand move on your behalf.
As you activate God’s favour in your life through prayer, fasting, and alignment with His will, expect doors to open, enemies to be neutralized, and your influence to expand. Trust God to honour your bold steps and elevate you to places of supernatural blessing.
