Fathers Day Message

When we think about being a good Father we can scan the bible and think about all the wonderful men who led their families to the presence of God. Men like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and many more. While all the stories of these men are very inspiring, all having their ups and downs we are reminded of one man who is deserving of mention and example. The man I am talking about is JOB.

Let us go into the text and see why Job is worthy to man of example and honor and one who leaves us a path to admire and follow.

Job 1:1-5 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Father Example 1 - Job was perfect, complete, pious. The Hebrew word for Pious is "Tawm" meaning he had a complete veneration for God and obedience to His commands.

Father Example 2 - Job was upright - Yaw Shur means he was alright. He was a man of integrity moral.

Father Example 3 - Feared God - Yaw Ray - means he was man who revered God. He had a true deep concern for how and what God was thinking.

Father Example 4 - Eschewed Evil - Eschewed "Soor" meaning "Turned Off" when evil comes around he just simpled turned it off. Walked away, avoided, shunned, moved away, he shut it down.

RESULTS:

(2) And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. (3) His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. (4) And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

Result 1 - He was wealthy. While wealth can be measured in many ways there is no doubt that a person who does what Job did will find wealth. The bible is filled with texts that promise, blessing, prosperity, success to all those who meditate, obey and follow God's word.

Result 2 - A united family. Brothers and sisters loving one another, joing in food every day and sharing with one another.

In Conclusion,

(5) And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

Father Example 5 - Probably one of the most important examples we have. Prayer. This many prayed for his family, his children and did it continually.
