Summary: Keys come in all different shapes and sizes and even colors. I have some keys on my key ring. There is a key to my house and to my truck and to the church and my office, file cabinet, suitcase, tag here that gets me into the gym. All of these keys open doors for me. They all unlock something.

Faith Is the Key

How many of you carry any keys?

Keys come in all different shapes and sizes and even colors. I have some keys on my key ring. There is a key to my house and to my truck and to the church and my office, file cabinet, suitcase, tag here that gets me into the gym. All of these keys open doors for me. They all unlock something. Do any of you carry keys with you?

Well most adults use keys every day, but today we are going to talk about a key that we may never even think about. It is a key called FAITH. Now faith isn't a key that is made of metal like these keys on my key ring, but it may be the most important key we can have, because it is the key that unlocks the power of God. Let me tell you a Bible story.

18 In the morning, as Jesus was returning to Jerusalem, he was hungry, 19 and he noticed a fig tree beside the road. He went over to see if there were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” And immediately the fig tree withered up. 20 The disciples were amazed when they saw this and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” 21 Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. 22 You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”

Heavenly Father, help us to remember that no matter what obstacles we may face, our faith in you is the key that unlocks your mighty power. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
