Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
The main point of this sermon is to emphasize the power of faith, even as small as a mustard seed, in God's plan and not our own desires, and how it can lead to miraculous outcomes.
Good morning, brothers and sisters. As we gather today, let's take a moment to reflect on the power of our faith in Christ, and how even a tiny mustard seed of faith can result in miracles. We're diving into Matthew 17:20-21 today, a passage that outlines just how mighty our faith can be.
In this passage, Jesus tells his disciples, 'Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.' But before we delve deeper into this message, let's start with a quote from Max Lucado. He once said, 'Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.' Lucado reminds us that faith isn't about getting our way—it's about trusting that God's way is the right way, even when it's hard to understand.
Faith in Christ is an active trust. It's about believing that He has the power to move mountains in our lives, to overcome the seemingly insurmountable challenges we face. This faith is not just for the big moments in life, but for the everyday moments as well. It's about trusting Him with our daily needs, our fears, our hopes, and our dreams.
When we place our faith in Christ, we are also accessing that power. It's like plugging into a power source. The power is always there, but we have to plug in to access it. When we plug into Christ through faith, we access His power to overcome, to heal, to restore, and to transform.
Moreover, faith in Christ is not just about receiving from Him, but it's also about aligning our lives with His purposes. It's about seeking His kingdom first, as Jesus instructed in Matthew 6:33. When we seek His kingdom first, we align our lives with His purposes, and we begin to see His power at work in our lives in amazing ways.
This faith is a continual process. It's about continually surrendering our lives to Him, continually trusting Him, and continually seeking His kingdom. It's about growing in our relationship with Him, getting to know Him more, and experiencing His power in deeper ways.
The power of faith in Christ is not just about what we can get from Him, but it's also about what we can become through Him. It's about becoming more like Him, reflecting His character, and bearing fruit for His kingdom. It's about becoming vessels of His love, grace, and power in the world.
This power of faith in Christ is also for others. It's about being a light in the world, as Jesus instructed in Matthew 5:14. When we live by faith in Christ, we become a light in the world, reflecting His love, grace, and power to others. We become conduits of His power, bringing hope, healing, and transformation to the world around us.
The power of faith in Christ is also about moving mountains in the lives of others. It's about interceding for others, standing in the gap, and believing for miracles. It's about using our faith not just for our benefit, but for the benefit of others.
