Expressions Of Public Praise
Contributed by Tony Colson on Aug 8, 2003 (message contributor)
Summary: (This message outline is meant to assist pastors in addressing their congregations concerning the March For Jesus (MFJ) in a Biblical and Theological way).
Introduction: The MFJ began in 1987 in the city of London, England. What began as a group of 15,000 marchers has led to thousands and millions of marchers in cities around the world. (198). Born again believers from several different churches join together to lift up an expression of praise and worship to the King of kings and Lord of lords. This event has a threefold purpose which must be considered – it’s Biblical, it’s Beautiful, and it’s Binding!
I. A Biblical Foundation – the act of worshippers entering the streets and other public places has Biblical precedence.
Psalm 68:24-28; 2 Chron. 20:21,22
II. A Beautiful Expression – this public act of worship is a beautiful expression to God of His people’s love and adoration.
Psalm 33:1-3; Psalm 147:1; Is. 52:7,8
III. A Binding Effect – As worshippers join together from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and religious expression a spiritual binding together of unity takes place.
Psalm 133; John 17: 20-23;
Closing: Finally, the public expression of God’s is an opportunity to declare to not the people of this earth but also the spiritual forces in high places the greatness of our God. (1 Peter 2:9; Eph. 3:10). It is both practical and spiritual!
