Summary: Examining how believers can give God their fear and receive faith
When we understand three things about fear from this text, we can learn what will enable us to exchange that fear for faith.
1. The SOURCE of Fear
A. Some fear trials (1 Kings 19:3)
B. Some fear trouble (1 Sam. 17:24)
C. Some fear tomorrow (Matt. 6:34)
D. Some fear the tomb (Ps. 23:4)
2. The SIN of Fear
A. It is a sin to fear because of who God is (Ps. 27:1; Prov. 3:25-26).
B. It is a sin to fear because fear doesn’t come from God (Rom. 8:15; 2 Tim. 1:7).
C. It is a sin to fear because it shows a lack of faith in God (v. 31).
3. The SOLUTION for Fear
A. Recognize Jesus’ presence in your situation (v. 25-27; cf. Heb. 13:5)
B. Respond to Jesus’ call (v. 28-29; cf. Matt. 11:28)
C. Remain focused on Christ (v. 30-31; cf. Heb. 12:2)
