EXCEEDING GREATNESS OF GOD

INTRODUCTION:
The phrase “exceeding greatness” refers to a level of power, majesty, and glory beyond human comprehension. God’s power is immeasurable, His works beyond count, and His authority over all creation is unquestionable. As believers, we are not only called to know this power but to experience it in our lives. This sermon will explore the dimensions of God’s exceeding greatness, how it operates, and how we can walk in it as believers.
1. THE GREATNESS OF GOD’S POWER
God’s power is boundless, and its manifestation in our lives can exceed all expectations and limitations.
a) Unlimited Power:
God’s power is without limit and surpasses all human understanding (Jeremiah 32:17).
b) Creative Power:
His power is the force behind creation, and it sustains the universe (Genesis 1:1-3).
c) Redemptive Power:
Through His power, He redeems and saves us from sin and death (Romans 1:16).
d) Resurrection Power:
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in us (Romans 8:11).
e) Transformational Power:
God’s power transforms lives, bringing healing, deliverance, and restoration (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Biblical Example:
The parting of the Red Sea was a demonstration of the exceeding greatness of God's power, delivering the Israelites from the hands of the Egyptians (Exodus 14:21-22).
2. THE GREATNESS OF GOD’S LOVE
The exceeding greatness of God’s love is revealed through His actions toward humanity.
a) Unfailing Love:
God’s love never fails, and it is beyond measure (Lamentations 3:22-23).
b) Sacrificial Love:
He demonstrated His love by giving His only Son for our redemption (John 3:16).
c) Enduring Love:
God’s love endures forever and is not dependent on circumstances (Psalm 136:1).
d) Merciful Love:
His love is filled with mercy, always ready to forgive (Ephesians 2:4-5).
e) Covenant Love:
God is faithful to His covenant promises, showing love from generation to generation (Deuteronomy 7:9).
Biblical Example:
The story of the prodigal son demonstrates the exceeding greatness of God’s love in welcoming back the repentant, showing mercy and grace (Luke 15:11-32).
3. THE GREATNESS OF GOD’S GRACE
God’s grace exceeds all human limitations and is a powerful force in the believer’s life.
a) Abundant Grace:
His grace is sufficient for every need, and it overflows in our lives (2 Corinthians 12:9).
b) Saving Grace:
We are saved by grace through faith, not by our works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
c) Empowering Grace:
Grace empowers us to live victoriously and walk in obedience (Titus 2:11-12).
d) Sustaining Grace:
God’s grace sustains us through trials and hardships (2 Corinthians 9:8).
e) Transforming Grace:
His grace changes us from the inside out, enabling us to fulfill His purposes (1 Corinthians 15:10).
Biblical Example:
Paul experienced the exceeding greatness of God’s grace when he received strength in his weakness and accomplished mighty works for the kingdom (2 Corinthians 12:7-9).
4. THE GREATNESS OF GOD’S PROMISES
God’s promises are exceedingly great and precious, providing us with hope and assurance.
a) Promises of Provision:
God promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
b) Promises of Protection:
He promises to protect us and deliver us from all harm (Psalm 91:1-2).
c) Promises of Peace:
God gives us peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7).
d) Promises of Victory:
Through His promises, we are assured of victory over every challenge (Romans 8:37).
e) Promises of Eternal Life:
God has promised us the gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus (John 3:16).
Biblical Example:
Abraham experienced the exceeding greatness of God’s promises when God fulfilled the covenant promise of a son in his old age, making him the father of many nations (Genesis 21:1-3).
5. EXPERIENCING EXCEEDING GREATNESS
As believers, we are called to walk in the reality of God’s exceeding greatness in every area of life.
a) Believe in God’s Power:
Faith is the key to unlocking the power of God in your life (Mark 11:22-24).
b) Align Yourself with God’s Will:
Walking in obedience to God’s word positions you to experience His greatness (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
c) Pray Boldly:
Approach the throne of grace with confidence, knowing God is able to do exceedingly more than we ask (Ephesians 3:20).
d) Live a Life of Worship:
Worship opens the door to the manifestation of God’s greatness in your life (Psalm 95:6).
e) Remain Humble:
Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, and He will lift you up in due time (1 Peter 5:6).
Biblical Example:
Elisha experienced the exceeding greatness of God’s power when he prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened, and they saw the heavenly army surrounding them (2 Kings 6:15-17).
