TOPIC- EVANGELISM AND ITS BENEFITS

TEXTS- MARK 16:15-16, 1 COR 1:17; 1 COR 9:16, 22, ROMANS 10:14-15

INTRODUCTION- Preaching and recovering the lost souls with the message of Jesus Christ is an important duty to be carried out by those that have been saved. Since we have found the light of God, we are commanded to help others lost in sin to find their way out of darkness and reproach – Col 2:12-14, Rom 10:14-15. Every method of evangelism is good and effective depending on the one that you may choose to employ or adopt, but the most important thing is that you must cultivate a lifestyle of evangelism because we are saved to save others.

SOME TYPES OF EVANGELISM APPROACH/ METHOD FOR THE SEASON

1) WELFARE EVANGELISM- LUKE 5:29, 1 COR 9:22, ACTS 10:2

Welfare could mean financial, health and care provisions rendered to those who need it. This method is very easy to attract people to you, when you show love and provide special kinds of gifts; it gives you the opportunity to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ to the receivers of this welfare.

TO DO: wash your used clothes or get new clothes and give it out or put them in a neat bag and bring it to church for your church to use it for evangelism. Unused properties are also welcomed in this system of evangelism.

2) STREET EVANGELISM – ACTS 5:42, LUKE 10:1-2

In this type of evangelism, it can be door to door, that is going from house to house or open air preaching along the streets in forms like morning cry and evening outdoor preaching, or shop to shop preaching. Jesus Christ practiced this so much that he didn’t have much time to rest at a place but he went about doing good.

TO DO: Pray, and get a partner then Plan for morning cry along your street weekly or daily, get a megaphone to use or you buy and give to your church for use. You can map out streets to visit regularly with your partner to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

3) GOSPEL TRACTS EVANGELISM-

This is the distribution of good Christian tracts to the people with the goal of preaching the gospel to them. The truth and good news of Jesus Christ must be written and kept for the reading of others to know it and accept it. Imagine if there were no records about the Holy Bible. Every truth that has set you free must be written for the freedom of others.

TO DO: Pray and Get a topic, start writing on it with the guidance of your Pastor. Submit the already written tracts to your church for production or you can plan to produce your work. Strategize the places to always drop them for example- Restaurants, offices, schools, parks, public transports and shops etc

4) FRIENDSHIP EVANGELISM-PROV 27:17

It means using your relationship or developing new relationship just for the purpose of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to them. Sometimes to reach the sinners with the gospel, you must first reach forth to them. Jesus became a friend to Zaccheaus just to reach him and his class of friends. Jesus sat among sinners to win their heart and to present the good news. In this type, you must not just preach it but you must also live what you preach.

TO DO: prayerfully make a list of friends, neighbours etc that you would like to get close to because of saving them for Jesus or helping them become more committed in their faith in God.

THE BENEFITS

1) It increases the church and enhances the spiritual growth of the believer – Acts 2:40-47, 1 Peter 2:2

2) It gives the opportunity to manifest the wisdom and power of God- Prov 11:30, Luke 10:19, Acts 1:8

3) Evangelism creates a special joy in the Christian’s life-Luke 10:20

4) It gives the believer the boldness to say No to sin- Matt 7:26, Acts 2:14-15, 1 Cor 9:14
