ROMANS 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
(2) God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer there in?
This text was chosen for this message in Gods word to bring out the truth about the doctrine of once
saved always saved. Paul preached against it, I find no biblical truth in this once saved always saved
doctrine, many scriptures will follow in this message to back up my point by the word of God.
Once saved always saved?
If you believe this doctrine I hope you are correct. Personally I find too many biblical scriptures to the contrary. I believe in eternal security only if you live a holy life before God. Well some would say then you believe we are saved by works. In no way do I even attempt to teach that doctrine. I believe we are saved by grace. What is the definition of Grace? It is unmeritted favor. Let me stop here and ask you a question does God favor sin? Think about it. lets look at where the doctrine of once saved always saved originated. This is called the doctrine of Apostasy. This teaching states you could never fall from grace. If this doctrine were correct it would be a liscense to sin. This doctrine states you will not surley die or in other words go to hell no mater what you may do once you are saved. My dear friend look where this originated. It all started in the book of Genesis. When the Serpent lied and said "ye shall not surely die"(Gen. 3:4). Think about it, because it is just as possible to eat forbidden fruit today in the day which we live. Eve believed this false doctrine and believed she would not die. many believe this same false doctrine today. Before we present scriptures to prove what I am stating I would like for you to reason. (Isaiah 1:18 come now let us reason together). Jesus saves us from sin not in sin. You can not be a sinner and a Christian at the same time. You see my dear friend in Christ, you can not feast at the lords table and the table of demons at the same time (1 Cor. 10:21) Lets take a fallen saint Judas to be specific, well some say he was the son of perdition, which he was. Some will say you can not use him as an example because he was under the law, but what I can say about him also refers to all mankind. (And Jesus said unto him no man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. )( Luke 9:62). The bible mentions the backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways:(Prov. 14:4). Why then pray for a backslider? Did he not once have to be saved to backslide? This would contradict the doctrine of once saved always saved, why pray for them if they can not be lost? How could they be a backslider ? Why would the bible mention a backslider if people could not backslide? Reason this in your mind. Remember the New testement is written to christian believers, lost people do not ordinarly read their bible now do they? So it is to the saved. To help us stay saved and on the winning side for Jesus. If a saved person were to commit a sin which I fill at liberty to say we have all done wrong, We have an advocate with the Father (1John 2:1). If you believe the doctrine of Apostasy (once saved always saved) then you are saying this scripture is beneath you since you are saved and cannot be lost again. You are stating you do not need an advocate, the bible says clearly we need one my friend. You still state you can do any sin and still make it into heaven, the bible states differently. There is no getting around Galatians 5:19-21. which states: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleaness, lasciviousness, (20) Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,(21) Envyings, murders, drunkeness, revellings, and such like, of the which I tell you before as I have also told you in times past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. This was Paul’s writting to the Galatian church. If a person commits one of these after being saved and does not ask forgiveness then according to the word of God they shall not inherit the kingdom of God, since there is no other place other than heaven or hell I would reason here that hell would be their home. I know the doctrine of Apostasy does not teach a saved person cannot sin, which would be an even greater falsehood, but it teaches a man could never do anything that would cause him to go to hell, well my friend what do you do about the scripture in Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully (notice the word here wilfully we can wilfully sin or it would not mention it here) after we have received the knowledge (only Christians that are saved have received the knowledge of the truth), of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. This is where you must I state must go back to the foot of the cross and repent, this is where you need your advocate. Romans 8:13 For if you live after the flesh ye shall die: but if you through the spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Say for instance you are saved, you start to live after the flesh, the bible states you shall surley die. One very outstanding scripture to the contrary of the doctrine of Apostasy is Hebrew 12:15 looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God. My friend reason here why would the bible say fail of the grace of God if we could not fail or fall from grace, think about it. I Corinthians 10:1-6 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, (2) And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. (3) And did all eat the same spiritual meat. (4) And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. (5) But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. (6) Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. Now see here in this previous scripture these things were given as examples. The children of Israel had many among them that God was not pleased with, they all did drink of that spiritual rock which was Jesus, but they were overthrown in the wilderness and died there, why because of sin and their murmmerings. reading further down in this same chapter (1 Cor. 10:9) Neither let us tempt Christ as some of them also murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer. (11) now all these things happened unto them for examples; and they are written for our admontion. Remember friend here they all partook of the spiritual rock which was Jesus but some her failed of the grace of God this is our example given in this text. Paul stated in Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? (2) God forbid. how shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therin? The doctrine of Apostasy gives you free lisence to sin and still make it into heaven without ever asking forgiveness, is that not contrary to Paul’s teachings here? reason my friend.
