Summary: The End of what we know is certainly coming soon. We know not the time, but many of the warning signs are present. We must not only be READY, but we must ready others, less they go through the Wrath of God that is promised and must be fulfilled.

Many of remember Paul Harvey using this line years ago, “And now you know the End of the Story.”

Revelation 14:6-20 (NKJV) The Proclamations of Three Angels

6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

8 And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”

9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”

Reaping the Earth's Harvest

14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

Reaping the Grapes of Wrath

17 Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

18 And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.” 19 So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.

Do you know anyone who warns their child multiple times about something they are not supposed to be doing? My wife and daughter both have this trait. It can be a fault, but it is due to their inability to do “Tough Love.” But, there is another case. In this case (vv.6 & 7), God is about to deliver His wrath on those still living on this earth. If anyone has not received the mark of the devil, it is their last opportunity to worship our Creator, for His wrath is about to be poured out.

Those with the devil’s mark are doomed. They are promised that they will be tormented forever and ever (vv.9-11).

Those in Babylon have already felt God’s wrath for this city, which there are many guesses to which city this is, since Babylon fell hundreds of years ago. Many believe this to be the USA. I myself believe that it is Rome. One must remember, that these are all guesses although educated in nature.

Where is His church at this point in the future? Many theologians believe that they are in Heaven with the LORD and have been since Revelation chapter four, since there is no mention of the church after that.

Most of us believe in a “Rapture” which will be questioned by many, since the word does not appear anywhere in the Scripture. The Greek word “rappos” is used and it means to be “caught up” and is used in Thessalonian by Paul.

If we look at today’s scripture, verses 14 through 16, we may notice that the scene, if you will, is taking place in a white cloud. John records that the Son of Man is sitting on this white cloud.

Hello pastor Timblin. Thank you for posting your sermon here on Revelation. I wanted to offer an opposing view of your interpretation of Revelation 14:11. You mentioned that this can be interpreted that the followers of the beast will be tormented for eternity. How can this be the correct interpretation when Revelation 14:11 is using a phrase which points us to Isaiah 34: [Isaiah 34:2-3, 10-11, 13-15 NASB20] 2 For the LORD'S anger is against all the nations, And His wrath against all their armies. He has utterly destroyed them, He has turned them over to slaughter. 3 So their slain will be thrown out, And their corpses will give off their stench, And the mountains will be drenched with their blood. ... 10 It will not be extinguished night or day; Its smoke will go up forever. From generation to generation it will be desolate; None will pass through it forever and ever. 11 But pelican and hedgehog will possess it, And owl and raven will dwell in it; And He will stretch over it the line of desolation And the plumb line of emptiness. ... 13 Thorns will come up in its fortified towers, Weeds and thistles in its fortified cities; It will also be a haunt of jackals And a habitat of ostriches. 14 The desert creatures will meet with the wolves, The goat also will cry to its kind. Yes, the night-bird will settle there And will find herself a resting place. 15 The tree snake will make its nest and lay eggs there, And it will hatch and gather them under its protection. Yes, the hawks will be gathered there, Every one with its kind. If the plants and animals in Isaiah 34 above come and move in, how can a fire still be burning for eternity? Also, Isaiah 34 is describing dead bodies not endlessly tormented people. There are numerous other points of connection between Revelation and Isaiah 34 also giving us 100% confidence that John is pointing to Isaiah 34. See pages 101 to 104 of my book "Hell Is Made Holy" to see these numerous additional connections. The book is available for nothing in pdf format at https://go.davidaaronbeaty.com/hellbook . A similar interaction occurs with the other use of this type of language in regard to the destruction of Babylon in Revelation 19:2, "Her smoke goes up forever and ever", and yet in Revelation 18:21 it says in regard to Babylon it "will be found no more at all". We even see this same interaction occur between Jesus's description of hell in Mark 9:48 and the Isaiah 66 passage that Jesus is pointing to with his use of the phrase, "for the worm does not die in the fire is not quenched" in Mark 9:48. Here's the Isaiah 66 passage: [Isaiah 66:24 NASB20] 24 "Then they will go out and look At the corpses of the people Who have rebelled against Me. For their worm will not die And their fire will not be extinguished; And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind." As you can see, Jesus is pointing to an Isaiah passage which describes dead bodies, not endlessly tormented souls. And the word "extinguished", as the New American Standard Bible translates it above, is accurate. The Hebrew word there is used several times in the Old Testament in contexts where it cannot describe an endlessly burning fire. For example, the word is used to describe the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians when they burned Jerusalem. Jerusalem is still not on fire. The word just means extinguished, as in not put out by humans. It doesn't describe endless burning of endlessly tormented wicked people. The language of the worms in Isaiah 66 above also finds a revealing context in the Old Testament. Similar language is used to describe birds which feed on dead bodies. The birds, according to the Old Testament, will not be frightened away. This language does not describe birds which will be feeding for eternity. It just describes birds whose eating will not be interrupted as long as it naturally lasts in the immediate time context of the description which is created by the passage. To see all of the more detailed evidence supporting what I'm saying here about the birds and worms which don't feed for eternity, please see this article, https://rethinkinghell.com/2012/07/17/their-worm-does-not-die-annihilation-and-mark-948/ . For the Old Testament examples of fire that was described as "not extinguished" during the burning of Jerusalem, yet still went out on its own see pages 207 to 209 of pdf book "Hell Is Made Holy". There is a lot more of this type of thing too. If you look at Jesus's description of hell in Matthew 13 and Luke 13 you can see that he's using specific words and phrases that come from Malachi 4 where it is prophesied that the wicked will be ashes under the feet of God's people when the judgment is all said and done. See pages 223 to 226 of "Hell is Made Holy". I could just keep going for a few hundred more pages with this type of stuff if somebody wanted that. And that's just what I do in the book "Hell Is Made Holy" if any of your page visitors would like to take a look at it. Even Revelation 20:10 is contextualized by eight different Old Testament prophecies saying that satan will be killed, not tormented for eternity: Genesis 3:14-15; Matthew 4:5-6; Psalm 91:11-13; Romans 16:19-20; Habakkuk 3:12-13; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Isaiah 27:1; Job 26:12-13. See for example Isaiah 27:1 here: [Isaiah 27:1 NASB20] 1 On that day the LORD will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, With His fierce and great and mighty sword, Even Leviathan the twisted serpent; And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea. Thanks again, and please feel free to let me know if you have any questions about what I'm saying here.
