Summary: Christians have been fighting the wrong battle with the wrong weapons and when they get a clue they do not empty their quiver

This was written in 2017 and it would appear that I was correct.

2 Kings 13:14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

I am neither a prophet nor a son of a prophet, but I can imagine something like this happening to the Church and America.

It does not appear that Joash had a clue about why Elisha was asking him to do this. He may have been going along to show respect to the dying prophet, but he was not as zealous as he should have been. He only shot three arrows when he should have shot five or six. A quiver could carry up to sixty arrows. The king may have been carrying a smaller one since he was on a visit instead of going to battle, Still, he had more than three.

For me, after calling Elisha father and basically the defender of the nation I would have shot all I had even if it were sixty. After all, when a prophet tells you something like that there has to be a good reason.

Conservatives and Christians are rejoicing over the election and some of the results. Be careful. Don't shoot just three spiritual arrows. The Church and America are not out of the woods, yet. 2018 elections are not the only things we are to prepare for in prayer. You see the evil in the streets and the hatred that is not going to fade away. Everything possible is being tried to circumvent the victory in the streets and in the halls of Congress. Nothing is assured.

Still, our hope is not in politics. The Church should have had a wake-up call. Unless we experience a revival and get back on the mission of winning souls and edifying saints whatever victories we may see in the coming days may only be temporary. If we do not ask God to anoint our spiritual arrows and bring many full quivers to bear we will see a backlash beyond our imagination should the political tides turns against us.

2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

The last battle was won by prayer and it was a much larger battle than it would have been if we had been doing our Father's business instead of resting in our fancy buildings, singing our songs while the country went to Hell morally and theologically. We were AWOL for over 60 years basking in faded glories rather than being on the front lines.

We need to repent individually and collectively and seek a revival that will saturate our churches and flood the land. If you are a true believer hanging out in an apostate church because of ethnicity, tradition, family or whatever, you need to leave. Find a church that is alive and leave the dead to bury the dead.

That includes even orthodox Evangelical churches that are barely keeping the doors open. Stop the vanity and realize it is time to move on and let it die. Jesus did not come to amass buildings. He came to build the kingdom.

If your church is not winning souls, baptizing and discipling then you are no longer in the fight. Go where those things are happening. Close the social club or museum and come back to Church. If you split over anything but doctrine, repent and merge. Swallow pride! it is bitter and chokes the life out of a believer and church.
