2 Timothy 1:9-10 (NLT) "For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Saviour. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News."

In these verses, the Apostle Paul, writing to Timothy, highlights the divine initiative behind salvation and calling. He emphasises that our salvation and calling are not based on our merit or deserving, but on God's sovereign plan and grace. From before the beginning of time, God ordained that His people would be saved and called to live holy lives.

Paul underscores that the revelation of God's plan was made manifest through the incarnation of Christ Jesus.
