Gen 25:11

11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi. (KJV)

Gen 21:14-19

14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. (KJV)

This was a merely casual visit. You know, like when we visit the Lord in times of need, when it serves or purpose. We cry to Him in trouble, but forsake Him in prosperity.

Isaach & Rebecca Meet For The First Time

Gen 24:61-64

61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahai-roi; for he dwelt in the south country.

63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.

Isaac Dwelt There

He didn't just visit anymore. He made it his dwelling place.

Isaac dwelt there, and made the well of the living and all-seeing God his constant source of supply.

The fact that he enjoyed fellowship with the living God there, made him select that hallowed ground for his dwelling. Let us learn to live in the presence of the living God; let us pray the Holy Spirit that this day, and every other day, we may feel like Hagar, "Thou God seest me." May the Lord be as a well to us, delightful, comforting, unfailing, springing up unto everlasting life.

Charles Spurgeon said,

“The bottle of the creature cracks and dries up, but the well of the Creator never fails; happy is he who dwells at the well, and so has abundant and constant supplies near at hand.”

The Lord has been a sure helper to others: His name is El Shaddai, God All-sufficient, All-nourishing; In Him this day we live, and move, and have our being; let us, then, dwell in closest fellowship with Him.

Lord, may we never leave You, but dwell by the well of the living God.
