Title: DRY BONES SHALL RISE AGAIN

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Ezekiel 37:1-10

Supporting Texts: Isaiah 43:19, Romans 8:11, Job 14:7-9

INTRODUCTION:

The vision of the dry bones in Ezekiel represents a situation of hopelessness and despair. It symbolises a people who have lost hope and are in spiritual, physical, or emotional death. However, the power of God can bring life to even the most impossible situations. This message is a call to believe that no matter how dead a situation seems, God can breathe life into it and cause dry bones to rise again.

1. THE VALLEY OF DRY BONES: A SYMBOL OF DESPAIR

a) The State of Dry Bones

The bones were not only dry but exceedingly dry, indicating that the situation had been hopeless for a long time (Ezekiel 37:2).

b) Hopeless Situations in Our Lives

Many people face situations that seem dead—failed relationships, financial ruin, or lost dreams—similar to the dry bones in Ezekiel’s vision.

c) Recognising Our Valleys

Everyone faces a "valley of dry bones" at some point, whether it's personal struggles, family issues, or a stagnant career.

d) The Question of Hope

God asked Ezekiel, “Can these bones live?” This question challenges us to consider whether we truly believe God can revive what seems dead (Ezekiel 37:3).

Biblical Example:

Sarah and Abraham's situation seemed impossible, but God gave life to their dry bones by fulfilling His promise of Isaac (Genesis 18:10-14).

2. THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD: PROPHESYING TO DRY BONES

a) The Power of God's Word to Transform

God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones. The Word of God has the power to bring life to the dead (Hebrews 4:12).

b) Speaking Life into Dead Situations

We are called to speak God's Word over the seemingly dead areas of our lives—finances, health, relationships—trusting that His Word will bring life (Isaiah 55:11).

c) The Breath of God

As Ezekiel prophesied, the breath (Spirit) of God entered the bones, bringing life. God’s Spirit can restore life to any situation (Romans 8:11).

d) Faith in God's Promises

When God gives a promise, we must believe it and declare it, even if the situation seems impossible (Mark 11:23).

Biblical Example:

Jesus spoke life to Lazarus after four days in the grave, and he rose from the dead (John 11:43-44).

3. THE PROCESS OF RESTORATION: FROM BONES TO A GREAT ARMY

a) God Restores in Stages

The bones came together, then sinews and flesh covered them, and finally, the breath of life entered them. God often works in stages when restoring us (Ezekiel 37:7-8).

b) Patience in the Process

Restoration takes time, but we must trust that God is at work, even if we don’t see immediate results (Psalm 27:14).

c) God’s Complete Restoration

God doesn’t do partial work. He fully restores, just as He turned the valley of dry bones into a mighty army (Philippians 1:6).

d) A New Life and Purpose

The bones did not just come to life—they became an army. When God revives us, He gives us new purpose and strength (Jeremiah 29:11).

Biblical Example:

Job lost everything, but after his trial, God restored him with double blessings (Job 42:10-12).

4. HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS: GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE

a) God Specialises in Impossible Situations

The valley of dry bones represents the impossible, but with God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).

b) Hope in the Face of Hopelessness

Just as God brought life to dry bones, He can bring hope to the most hopeless situations in our lives (Isaiah 43:19).

c) Faith That God Will Do It Again

We have seen God's works in the past, and He is the same God today. What He did before, He can do again (Hebrews 13:8).

d) Resurrecting Dead Dreams and Visions

God can breathe life into dead dreams and visions, just as He did with the dry bones (Habakkuk 2:3).

Biblical Example:

Hannah, once barren and mocked, trusted God and was given the child she prayed for (1 Samuel 1:9-20).

5. A CALL TO ACTION: TRUSTING GOD FOR REVIVAL

a) Trusting in God's Power to Revive

We must believe in God’s power to revive dead situations and trust that He will work in His time (Romans 4:20-21).

b) Prophesying Over Your Life

Like Ezekiel, we are called to speak life over dead areas in our lives—our families, businesses, health—and expect God to move.

c) Positioning Ourselves for Revival

To experience revival, we must position ourselves through prayer, obedience, and faith in God’s Word (2 Chronicles 7:14).

d) Living in the Spirit of Resurrection

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us, giving us the power to overcome every form of death and barrenness (Romans 8:11).

Biblical Example:

The early church experienced revival and great growth after receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4, 41).
