VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. With good deeds

"But by doing good deeds (deeds in themselves good and for the good and advantage of those contacted by them),"

We are dressed in good deeds by faith and these are our clothing:

1. LORD JESUS CHRIST is my clothing

Romans 13:14 (Amplified Bible)

But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts).

2. Compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience

Colossians 3:12 (Amplified Bible)

Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].

3. Humility toward one another

1 Peter 5:5 (Amplified Bible)

Likewise, you who are younger and of lesser rank, be subject to the elders (the ministers and spiritual guides of the church)—[giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel]. Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)—[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble.

4. Joy

Psalms 30:11 (Amplified Bible)

You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,

5. Strength and dignity

Proverbs 31:25 (Amplified Bible)

Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!

6. Salvation and righteousness

Isaiah 61:10 (Amplified Bible)

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Job 29:14 (Amplified Bible)

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me or clothed itself with me; my justice was like a robe and a turban or a diadem or a crown!

B. Appropriate for women - propriety

"as befits women who profess reverential fear for"

Deuteronomy 22:5 (Amplified Bible)

The woman shall not wear that which pertains to a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all that do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.

Dress fittingly. No cross-dressers in the church allowed. It's not of GOD, it's an abomination to the LORD.

C. Worshipping GOD

"and devotion to God."

Our example of Dorcas who clothed herself with good works/deeds.

Acts 9:36 (Amplified Bible)

Now there was at Joppa a disciple [a woman] named [in Aramaic] Tabitha, which [in Greek] means Dorcas. She was abounding in good deeds and acts of charity.

1 Peter 2:12 (Amplified Bible)

Conduct yourselves properly (honorably, righteously) among the Gentiles, so that, although they may slander you as evildoers, [yet] they may by witnessing your good deeds [come to] glorify God in the day of inspection [when God shall look upon you wanderers as a pastor or shepherd looks over his flock].
