Summary: DON'T YOU KNOW?

Isaiah 40 v 27 - 31 DON'T YOU KNOW? HAVEN'T YOU HEARD THAT? 1. GOD EXISTS! - Vs. 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 1. God's Permanence (He is eternal.) Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. 2. God's Power (He is the Creator.) Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 3. God's Persistence (He faints not) Jeremiah 32:17, Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Luke 1:37, For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. 4. God's Perception (He understands) there is no searching of his understanding That's why Jesus could say as God, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

DON'T YOU KNOW? HAVEN'T YOU HEARD THAT? 2. GOD ASSISTS - Vs. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. (a) The Source Of Power He giveth power (b) The Subjects Of Power to the faint God gives the weak eternal life. Romans 3:10, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (c) The Sufficiency Of Power and to them that have no might he increaseth strength Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. We have at least two problems when we face the difficulties of life. First, we do not realize how much power is available to us. Ephesians 1:15-23 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us–ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Second, we do not ask God for His power. Ephesians 3:14-16 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; DON'T YOU KNOW? HAVEN'T YOU HEARD THAT?

3. GOD ASSURES - Vss. 30-31 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Those that wait upon the Lord will have:

(a)) Soaring Power - 40:31 "mount up with wings like eagles"

(b)) Surging Power - 40:31 "run and not be weary"

(c)) Staying Power - 40:31 "walk and not faint"

So how do we wait on the Lord? 1. In Patience Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 2. In Precept (God's word) Romans 15:4, For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 3. In Prayer - Matthew 7:7-8, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
