DON’T YOU GET IT? CATCHING AND APPREHENDING THE HIGHER MEANING?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

Text:

Proverbs 5:15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

Proverbs 5:15 (MSG) Do you know the saying, "Drink from your own rain barrel, draw water from your own spring-fed well"?

Any teacher can teach smart kids. It requires a great challenge and greater patience to reach down and change PERCEPTIONS that are invalid and totally wrong. It is hard to UN-LEARN and RE-TEACH.

Mark 8:18 (MSG) Don’t you see the point of all this? Don’t you get it all all?

Mark 8:21 (MSG) Jesus said: DO YOU STILL NOT GET IT…

SLOWNESS OF PERSCEPTION? TEAMED WITH A TENDANCY TO FORGET? CAN LEAD TO GREAT DANGER…

WHY CAN’T WE HEAR? WHY DON’T WE GET IT?

FROZEN COMMUNICATION, NO CONFLICT RESOLUTION, ANGER, IMPATIENCE

Mark 8:18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

Mark 8:18 (NIV) Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?

Mark 8:17 (NLT) Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? 18 ‘You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? 19 When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve,” they said.

Mark 8:18 (MOFF) You have eyes, do you not see? you have ears, do you not hear?

Our first TV set was one that my uncle gave our family. It rolled all the time. Now you have to be old to understand a TV rolling. At my uncle’s house, they had a TV. The TV started rolling, you would turn a button and the TV would roll the other way. Keep fine turning the button and you would stop the picture from rolling. One day the TV was rolling real bad and my uncle could not stop it. With his fist, he hit the top of the TV and wood made a hole the size of his fist. He then was ashamed of the hole. They bought a new TV and gave us the old set. Might I add it never rolled again. It was afraid

To be hit.

In early childhood I thought I thought I one of my purposes in life was TO BE A REMOTE CONTROL FOR THE TV.

We had rabbit ears on the back of the TV set. Our rabbit ears had tin foil on them. We would have to move the ears when we changed channels. One of us children had to stand in a certain place for the reception to improve. When we advanced in technology we had an outdoor antenna with a wire to the TV set. Our reception of the TV signal was much improved. The picture was clearer. But when you changed channels someone had to run outside, grab the antenna pole and turn it. Dad would yell: KEEP TURNING or NO YOU HAVE GONE TO FAR AS WE CLEARED UP the TV signal.

We had some rich neighbors that later added a motor to their antenna pole and they could program the pole to match the right station and when they changed channels the outside antenna would move to the right direction and the channel would come in clear. Wow, they never had to run outside and listen to the commander inside giving the orders. Three channels, it went off air at midnight and played the national anthem and ran a stupid picture all night until sign on time in the morning. Three channels and we were almost uptown.

There were thousands of channels, their signals filled the air waves. There were radio channels (AM, FM), 19 CB channels, short wave channels, TV channels BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A TRANSMITTER AND A RECEIVER. The channels are worthless with a the message. Sure the waves are there, BUT MY FRIEND, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A RECEIVER. All the channels are there all the time.

Years later cable came out. A man came and ran a wire into the house and we could receive many more channels. YOU HAD TO HOOK UP. Our first cable had a big white box and a 30 ft. cord to a smaller box in your hand. You could press buttons and the channels would change without getting up. It was so neat, just follow the cord and you could find your remote control.

NOW, WE FLIP ON THE TV, AND WE HAVE A GUIDE BUTTON AND YOU PRESS ON IT AND WE HAVE HUNDREDS OF RADIO, MUSIC, TV, SPORTS, NEWS, ADULT PROGRAMS. We have a TV in every room, each family member watching their own thing?
