A key to personal success we would like to introduce is understanding and overcoming Proscratination.
Objective:
To clearly define proscratination and have you can overcome it in achieving the success you were destined for in this life.
Proverbs 14:23-24 – In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty. The crown of the wise is their riches, But the foolishness of fools is folly.
Profit – getting results
We are not talking about just talking.
I Timothy 6:20 – O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge.
Procrastination – put off to future time; always a delay.
Procrastination is an enemy.
You can talk about a lot of things you need, should be or in process; but productivity and results of when you are going to do it.
Change isn’t change until it is changed.
Many Christian have lost the intensity and focus needed to get things done.
We should not be satisfied until the job is done.
Many are satisfied with the PROCESS of and not seeing the results.
I know many prophecies have come forth, but what are you doing about the prophecies (heart right, moving toward fulfilling it?)
A lot of times we have a window of opportunity to jump in, but we want to plan and talk about everything you need.
You heard people say, I know I need to do that BUT – they will stay in their situation.
We need to get rid of the procrastination so we can get what we want NOW because we serve a NOW God.
There is no telling what may have been missed because of procrastination and talk about what should of, could of be done.
Our God is a God of timing and sequences and when time comes for us – then we need to move immediately.
God is ready to bring things to you, but you need to pick up the intensity and focus. You ate it, you sleep it – but add some corresponding action to it.
Example, I know I am suppose to do a ministry…but you are still waiting.
God is looking for someone loyal (perfect) to show Himself strong.
We don’t want to be on the other side when manifestation comes.
Please don’t beat yourself up! Forgive yourself. Don’t put off today what you need to do – JUST DO IT. If we just do it, we will go to the next level.
Many of us start things, but we don’t finish.
When the prophet hears from God, just do it. There is a prophet’s reward in getting rid of the proscrastination.
Causes of Procrastination:
1. Worldly entanglement.
What system in this world has you tied up? Corporate America? Working to get to the top?
Genesis 9:16
“while he lingered…” – While Lot was procrastinating, He lost everything.
While we linger TV, video games, etc impact our children. We need to teach them principles and God before they grow up and get out of control.
Many compare God’s way to doing things to the world’s way. Doesn’t even compare. God says “sow and reap” and the world says “hoard it”.
If God has spoken to you to do something, then do it. JUST DO IT!
2. Family cares
Trying to be everything to the family instead of turning it over to God – children, husband, etc.
Matthew 8:21 – Then another of His disciples said to Him, Lord, let me first go and bury my father.
Even until death, I will not let anything stop me – I will not procrastinate. This will cause God to stop looking to and fro the earth when He finds someone loyal to Him.
When you belong to God, you will not let family to cause you to procrastinate.
3. Unbelief
Acts 17:32 – And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter”.
You have to have “water walking” faith.
4. Personal Convenience
Acts 24:25 – Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgement to come, Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you”.
This is the number one reason people procrastinate.
Praying and spending more time is not convenience; or tithing; or becoming a better wife or husband, etc.
God takes procrastination seriously. The only way to get things done is to stay focused.
I Samuel 15:1-8
Focus is your friend.
God says go soul winning, then go soul winning.
Delayed obedience is a spirit of procrastination that tries to stop promotion.
Promotion comes from instant obedience.
Christians have to get to the place where we see the end of our faith.
