Summary: This is a message about having the anointing of the Holy Spirit to do the work that God has called you to do. What is the anointing? Four ingredients in the anointing oil.

“Do you have what it takes?”

Intro: There are many jobs and various of things that have certain requirements for it to be done. You have to have what it takes in order to see the job completed and finished. Suppose that all around me are people with needs: a woman over here has cancer and is dying; a man has lost his wife and children and no where to turn; this individual has been striped of his or her innocence and there are questions and problems all around. Do you sit down and cry or do we have what it takes? Say unto these people believe and receive the miracle and supernatural work that God has for you.

Text: I John 2:18-27

The anointing of God upon your life will create opposition in your life from the enemy. Expect it. Yet, that same anointing upon your life is what will cause you to rise above the advances of the enemy and to be victorious!

The Word declares that “greater is He that is in you that he that is in the world!” As God’s anointed you are empowered to do mighty exploits for God. Yes, the Church today is to arise with this anointing from God.

I John 2:20 “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.”

Jesus has come into our life to bring to us that fresh anointing of God’s Spirit to see the lives of people changed and situations to be turned around. If God anointed Jesus while he was here on this earth, what makes you not believe that He will give you that same anointing if you hunger and thirst after it. God is looking for people to use that is flowing with anointing

Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him.”

Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

This anointing oil was special and was not to be copied or produced for any other reason. God was very specific about what went into it and let’s look at the ingredients and their significance.

I. MYRRH - PAIN KILLER

A. Myrrh is the first principal spice and the anointing breaks the bondage of sickness and pain.I can be sick but get up to preach and under the anointing I would be healed. I can have a soar throat but under the anointing be healed to preach the word.

Mark 2:17 “…Those who are well have no need of physician, but those who are sick……”

B. Church if there is ever a day that we need to be anointed of God it is right now. We are living in a time that there is more diseases and sickness than there ever has been but that doesn’t take away from the power and anointing that God has and wants to use.

Isaiah 53:5 “…And by His stripes we are healed.”

C. Instead of popping a few of those painkillers called Ibouproen, just ask God to give you that anointing that will drive the pain and sickness away. Jesus laid hands on the sick, they recovered.

II. CINNAMON OIL - IGNITE A FIRE

A. This is the oil from cinnamon fruit. Not cinnamon powder but cinnamon oil. It was very flammable and you could use it to ignite fires. It speaks of the spirit fire that comes in the anoint-ing. Oh Lord send the fire and the anointing upon your church again. This is the day that the anointing can make a difference.

Matthew 3:11 “..But He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

B. John came preaching that there is one after me that is mightier than I, He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Church Jesus is still baptizing the lives of people today with the holy fire of anointing, that will spark this nation with fire.

Acts 2:3 “There appeared to them divided tongues, as a fire, and one sat upon each of them.”

III. CALAMUS - BRINGS OUT TRUE SCENT

A. The third spice was Calamus. This is a scented cane that grew along the water ways in Palestine and when it blossomed they would pick all the flowery pedals off and crush them and bruise them. The pedals had to be bruised for the fragrance to extract. It was that fragrance that came out of the bruising that was used in the holy anointing oil.
