Summary: We seem to accept there has to be great noise to find God. Sometimes God is found in the still, small voice. Sometime excessive noise can hide the message?

DO WE NEED A NOISE GENERATOR?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

"The Greatest Man I Never Knew" Reba McEntire

The greatest man I never knew Lived just down the hall And everyday we said hello

But never touched at all He was in his paper I was in my room How was I to know he

thought I hung the moon

The greatest man I never knew Came home late every night He never had too much to say

Too much was on his mind I never really knew him And now it seems so sad

Everything he gave to us took all he had

Then the days turned into years And the memories to black and white

He grew cold like an old winter wind Blowing across my life

The greatest words I never heard I guess I'll never hear The man I thought could never die Has

been dead almost a year He was good at business But there was business left to do

He never said he loved me Guess he thought I knew

EVER HEARD OF AN AMBIENT NOISE GENERATOR?

WHAT WOULD THE SPIRIT OF GOD LIKE US TO HEAR?

WE REFUSE TO HEAR BECAUSE WE CAN NOT HAVE FAITH TO STAND STILL...

WE HAVE TO BE ON THE MOVE AND IN THE HEAT OF THE BATTLE...

2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou

king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this

great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the

salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out

against them: for the LORD will be with you.

Seems we are a society that can not stand quiet, stillness.

I drove to a distant state to pick up a family member and take them to another family members

house. The young teenager was a wonderful kid. I met another family member half way and we

loaded the teen in my van. We ate together and the other family member left to return home.

We started our several hour journey to take them for an extended visit with the grandparents.

The teen got comfortable in the seat and pulled out BIG HEADSETS and put them over their ears.

I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SPENDING TIME with this family member that I rarely saw.

I wanted to get to know her and I wanted her to get to know me better.

I could hear the music blaring in her ears. I asked her about school? She said: WHAT? as

she removed her headset and answered my question. She put them back on and was grooving

on to the beat. After several attempts of having a discussion I just decided to shut up and drive.

Every now and then she would smile at me and I would smile at her.

I said: YOU HAVE A COOL UNCLE THAT LOVES YOU AND WOULD LOVE TO GET TO

KNOW YOU... SHE SMILED REAL BIG?

She knew every word to every song, but she refused to turn the music off to talk/listen.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your

own hands, as we commanded you;

HOW MANY TIMES HAS THE TELEVISION, RADIO OR STEREO HINDERED OUR

RELATIONSHIPS WITH GOD, FRIENDS AND FAMILY?

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow

to wrath:

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be

exalted in the earth.

WE SEARCH FOR GOD IN THE WIND? FIRE? EARTHQUAKE?

BE STILL AND LISTEN...

1 Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a

still small voice.

WE NEED A MIRROR TO SEE...

IT MAYBE HARD TO GET A PROGNOSIS UNLESS WE LISTEN CLOSELY TO RECEIVE THE

REAL DIAGNOSES?

DIAGNOSES: the act of identifying the problem. The conclusion.

PRAGNOSIS: the treatment to correct and bring recovery...

LET US LISTEN TO GOD AND HIS WORD ABOUT DAILY LIVING...

1. LISTEN: ONE OF THE FIRST LESSONS GOD NEEDS US TO HEAR IS CONTROL YOUR DIET!

Proverbs 23:2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.

You are what you eat.

My brother went to the doctor the doctor said: SPELL DIET?

He said: D-I-E! the doctor said: YOU ARE GOING TO DIE IF YOU DO NOT LOOSE WEIGH AND

CONTROL YOUR SUGAR...

We depend on caffeine, sugar, SALT, cholesterol --- JUNK, FAST FOOD --- WE WILL DIE.
