Good Morning, Church! Welcome to another beautiful day in the house of the Lord. Today, we are going to dive into a powerful message about God's blessing of divine favor, the power of God's favor, and how we can live a life immersed in His favor.
As Joel Osteen beautifully puts it, "Your situation may look impossible, but don't ever rule out the favor of God."
Our scriptural reference for today's sermon is Numbers 6:22-27 which reads,
"The Lord said to Moses, 'Tell Aaron and his sons, this is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.'"
God's blessing of divine favor is a divine endowment that is not earned but graciously given by God to His children. This favor is a manifestation of God's grace, love, and mercy towards us. It is a gift that is freely given, not because of our works or righteousness, but because of His unfathomable love for us.
What is it?: When we talk about God's favor, we are referring to His preferential treatment, His special regard, and His divine influence that brings about blessings and prosperity in our lives. It is a divine endorsement that sets us apart and positions us for blessings, breakthroughs, and divine upliftment. God's favor is His countenance being turned towards us, His eyes looking upon us with kindness, and His hands outstretched towards us in blessing. It is His divine smile upon our lives, causing things to work out for our good, even in situations that seem impossible.
Numbers 6:22-27 context: God instructed Moses on how Aaron and his sons were to bless the Israelites. This blessing was not just a wish or a prayer; it was a decree, a pronouncement of God's divine favor upon His people. It was God's assurance to His people that His face or His favor would shine upon them. This divine favor was to be their shield, their protection, their provision, and their peace.
Not a respecter of persons or situations: It is not limited by our background, our past mistakes, or our present circumstances. It is not confined by the economy, our job situation, or the state of our health. God's favor transcends all human limitations and barriers. It is not dependent on our abilities, our strength, or our wisdom. It is solely dependent on God, who is limitless, all-powerful, and all-knowing.
A lifetime experience. It is not just for a season; it is for every season of our lives. It is not just for specific areas of our lives; it is for every area of our life. God's favor is all-encompassing. It covers every aspect of our lives - our health, our finances, our relationships, our careers, our ministries, and so much more.
For everyone: God's favor is not just for us; it is also for others around us. When God's favor is upon us, it does not only bless us, but it also blesses those around us. It makes us a blessing to our families, our friends, our communities, and our world. It makes us channels of God's blessings, grace, and favor.
Giving and receiving: It is not just about being blessed; it is also about being a blessing. It is not just about enjoying God's blessings; it is also about sharing God's blessings. It is not just about us; it is about God and His kingdom.
Requires our cooperation: We need to position ourselves to receive it. We need to align ourselves with God's word, God's will, and God's ways. We need to walk in obedience, faith, and humility. We need to seek God's kingdom first and His righteousness. We need to live a life that pleases God and honors Him.
