Most of us are tired and weary of the same old, same old when we come to church. We don’t want to feel like when we attend that we are simply going through the motions. People no longer come to church because it is the right thing to do.
Many of us feel weary and uninspired when we attend church. We long for something deeper, something that will give our lives meaning and purpose. We no longer come to church out of obligation; we come seeking answers to life's biggest questions. One of these questions is, "What on earth am I here for?" Today, we will explore Ephesians 1:11-12 to find the answer to this question.
"In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory."
1. God's Pleasure:
Our primary goal in life should be to bring a smile to God's face. We were created to please Him and fulfill His purpose for our lives. Instead of being driven by guilt, anger, or fear, we should seek to do what pleases God.
2. God's Family:
When we put our faith in Christ, we become part of God's family. We are connected to other believers, and the church becomes our spiritual family. Baptism is an important step in identifying with this family and following God's commandment.
3. Becoming Like Christ:
God's ultimate plan for us is to become more like His Son, Jesus. He wants us to develop godly character and exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in our lives - love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, and kindness. This transformation takes time and happens through studying His Word, being in community with other believers, and embracing the circumstances God allows in our lives.
4. Serving God:
We were not created to simply exist but to make a contribution and serve God. Each of us has been uniquely shaped with spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personality traits, and life experiences. These elements work together to define who we are and how we can serve God and make a difference in the world.
5. Mission:
Just as Jesus came to seek and save the lost, we too have a mission. God has placed a burning desire in our hearts, a purpose that aligns with His plan. Discovering and fulfilling this mission will bring true happiness and fulfillment to our lives.
As we conclude, let us remember that our purpose in life is not found in our careers or material possessions. It is found in living our lives on purpose, with a purpose - to please God, be part of His family, become like Christ, serve Him, and fulfill our unique mission. May we seek God's guidance and embrace His plan for our lives, finding true happiness and fulfillment in living out our purpose.
