Are You wearing Dirty Underwear? (1 Peter 2:22-25)

Illus: A mother told her 5 year old son TO GO CHANGE HIS UNDERWEAR BECAUSE THE HAD A BAD SMELL . He went to his room got fresh underwear and put them on over the dirty . His mom ask did you change your underwear he said yes. Mom ask then why do you still stink . lets go check this out . YOUR SINS WILL FIND YOU

Text: 1 Peter 2:22-25

22 Christ did not sin

or ever tell a lie.

23 Although he was abused,

he never tried to get even.

And when he suffered,

he made no threats.

Instead, he had faith in God,

who judges fairly.

24 Christ carried the burden

of our sins.

He was nailed to the cross,

so that we would stop sinning

and start living right.

By his cuts and bruises

you are healed.

25 You had wandered away

like sheep.

Now you have returned

to the one

who is your shepherd

and protector.

Unfortunately, it is common practice among Christians. Instead of taking off dirty things in our life , we keep those and just put some clean things over the dirty. It may make you feel better about the dirty stuff, it may be covered up from most people, but the dirty is still there.

"The Lord says: 'These people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me... GOD”S not impressed with all those Christian words we say and Christian meetings we go to and Christian causes we support. He's interested in what's really going on in your heart, in your real life.

We fill our souls with an overdose of

1. Lust, Sinful sexual relationships, porn

2. Anger, Rage

3. Hatred, Condemnation of others

4. Hypocrisy, Two faced (Kiss and KNIFE IN THE BACK )

5. Pride

6. Lying

7. Cheating

8. Dishonor

1. The Aged and Elderly

2. Authority

3. People different from us

God commands us to "put off your old self" and "to be made new," to "put on the new self." He goes on to tell us to

1. stop lying and tell the truth,

2. stop bad talk and practice Godly talk,

3. Stop all anger and bitterness Replace it with forgiveness and compassion,

4. Stop any kind of sexual immorality and live in purity.

Don't you think its time to cleanup even if it feels uncomfortable?
