Deliverance Moment: Keys To Answered Prayers

Summary: When you pray the will of God the earth and heaven come into alignment that's when things began to happen.
When Heaven and Earth Align: The Power of Praying God’s Will
1. The Misunderstanding About Prayer
We’ve heard it so often it’s practically branded into Christian culture: “Prayer changes things.” But if we’re being honest—and we should be when we speak of the things of God—that statement is only partially true.
It’s not prayer that changes things.
It’s God.
If prayer alone changed things, then every prayer—whether prayed in fear, doubt, selfishness, or bitterness—would instantly bring results. But the truth is, some prayers go unanswered, and not because God is ignoring us, but because He’s sovereign. And sovereignty means He knows what’s best, and He only responds to what aligns with His will and His character.
James 4:3 says:
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”
This scripture reminds us that God doesn’t just hand out blessings because we demand them. He listens for the heart behind the request. He weighs our intentions. He checks the motives. And above all, He checks for alignment—is what you're asking for part of His plan for your life?
Prayer is not a formula to get what we want.
Prayer is a spiritual transaction that requires faith, alignment, and surrender.
It’s not about twisting God’s arm—it’s about joining His heart.
2. Praying According to His Will
1 John 5:14–15 says:
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.”
This is not just a feel-good verse—it’s a blueprint.
We are promised divine results, but there’s a condition:
“If we ask according to His will.”
That means our prayers must be shaped by His Word, His truth, His timing, and His purposes. When we don’t know how to pray, the best thing we can do is to pray scripture. His Word is His will.
? Want healing? Pray Isaiah 53:5 – “By His stripes we are healed.”
? Need peace? Pray Philippians 4:7 – “And the peace of God... will guard your heart.”
? Seeking wisdom? Pray James 1:5 – “If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God…”
? Facing a battle? Pray Exodus 14:14 – “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
When you pray God’s Word, you’re not guessing—you’re declaring. You’re standing on a foundation that cannot be shaken, and you’re inviting heaven to intervene on earth.
3. The Kingdom Principle of Prayer
Prayer is not magic. It’s not a spiritual vending machine where you insert your request and out comes your miracle. It’s a Kingdom principle—a divine law with specific order.
Matthew 7:7 says:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
That’s action-based prayer.
Prayer is not passive—it’s pursuit.
Notice the progression:
Ask – make the request.
Seek – go after Him.
Knock – keep pushing in, even when the door doesn’t open right away.
This teaches us that prayer is not a one-time thing. It's a lifestyle of seeking God, believing Him, and walking by faith—even when you can't see it yet.
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us:
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.”
God is not moved by emotion—He’s moved by faith.
Crying, worrying, begging—these might move people. But God responds to trust. Trust that says, “Even if You don’t answer the way I hope, I’ll still believe You’re good. I’ll still believe You’re with me.”
That’s when heaven responds.
That’s when miracles begin.
That’s when things on earth begin to align with what God has already declared in the heavens.
4. Transparency Moment: God Is Still a Healer
Let me share something real with you.
In my twenties, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I remember sitting in that sterile office, the doctor’s words echoing in my ears:
"We may have to remove your ovaries."
"You’ll need to start chemo immediately."
"You should prepare yourself to never have children."
I was in church. I knew about God. But I didn’t know Him.
I had routine, but no relationship.
Religion, but no revelation.
I told my cousin Cindy what the doctors had said. And she did what real believers do—she went into intercession. She didn’t offer clichés or empty comfort. She prayed, and she gave me Scripture.
I’ll never forget what she told me:
"You don’t need a whole forest of faith. Just one seed."
And she was right. I started reading those Scriptures she gave me—verses like:
Jeremiah 30:17 – “I will restore you to health and heal your wounds.”
